September 23/15: Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro is reported external link external link to be planning a purchase of a dozen Su-30 fighters, along with equipment from China. The Venezuelan Air Force operates 23 Su-30MK2 external link external link multirole fighters, following a crash of one of these last week. Speaking at a ceremony to mark the loss, Maduro stated external link external link that he would talk with Vladimir Putin to acquire a replacement for the lost Su-30 as well as the twelve new fighters. The aircraft in service were procured from Russia as part of a $3 billion arms sale, following a refusal by then-President George Bush to sell replacement parts for the country’s fleet of F-16s.

When you won't buy food for your people I guess you better buy arms to keep them in line!

Collectivism needs to be outlawed. Its vocal proponents executed.

Before they kill billions.

In other news, a lot of the current college age kids think socialism is great. Was a thread on that here earlier today. Oh yeah, most of them couldn’t change a tire or the oil in a car if their life depended on it - and call the cops if they see a mouse (another thread). But they know capitalism, “white privilege,” and global warming are evil.

/wish I was kidding

So would you if you could make a buck off it. Plenty of capitalists think socialism is great if it happens to give their business an advantage. That's why socialism vs capitalism debates are mostly pure bullsh*t.

Something for nothing - the oldest scam since the dawn of mankind, yet it has to be relearned over and over.

Now that’s funny.

I’d make bank in a socialist society. Really. And easily.

I just find it immoral and know where it leads - mass death. Therefore I oppose it.

Socialism is a great way to get your useless consumer products produced by slave labour. That's why so many capitalists wholeheartedly support socialism. Nixon figured that out.

They’re not starving yet. That crowd of runners all looks pretty fit. There are only a couple of heavy weights among them, though. Another one of these in 6 months will probably show slower runners and folks looking not so fit.

This video exemplifies life under socialist/commuist totalitarianism. It is tyranny at its finest. Then, we have the Pope who demands that we take all the destitute from these hell holes but like a good socialist doesn’t say a word about the underlying causes of mass migration. This is because it disturbs his public narrative that socialism is the grand ‘equalizer’ for the poor, which really means putting everyone in the gutter except a few tyrants. This is the socialist/communist model to pillar and plunder the masses of humanity. A place where only corrupt tyrants get filthy rich on the backs of multitudes of struggling poor. It boggles the mind that there are mature adults, including the Pope of all people, who enthusiastically embrace this bankrupt ideology. And, their ilk keep advocating this ‘doomed to fail’ approach over and over again. It is a disturbing and deeply discouraging statement on humanity’s permanent affliction, especially so when it is embraced and promoted by a man who claims to speak for the One True God.

Maybe young moron minds equate social networking with socialism economies. Make them live a week in Venezuela for a reality check. Where are those idiots Sean Penn and Danny Glover to praise glorious Venezuela’s utopia?

I recently returned from Colombia but while there a childhood friend of my wife was visiting from Venezuela. The horror stories she told about lack of everything...and the spies for the guv all lurking around.

Colombia has made a huge turn around in the last 10-15 yrs and is a modern booming country. Stores and malls are full, companies are booming and the country has become solvent. Amazing place.

********************************************************************

The same Nixon who froze prices and wages? The same Nixon who proposed to congress the Earned Income Tax Credit,(E.I.T.C.)? He wasn’t around long enough to sign the E.I.T.C. into law, that job was left for “republican” Gerald Ford to do.

I understand that while he was alive Hugo Chavez imported thousands of state security agents from Cuba.

And native Spanish speakers I know have told me that the Venezuelan and Cuban accents are nearly indistinguishable.

So I am sure there’s a secret policeman on nearly every corner there.

“Plenty of capitalists think socialism is great if it happens to give their business an advantage.”

In those cases, they are not Capitalists. They are Cronyists. I fine example of this is the current Chamber of Commerce leadership team.

I think it's more accurate to say that all capitalists are cronyists.

Capitalists don't mind supporting terrorist or fascist regimes either, as long as they get a supply of oil at a price they like.

Communists--such as the chinese--make for the very best capitalists, in the sense that their lives are totally dedicated to it and nothing else. Proving again that capitalism and communism are good friends and often interchangeable.
