Bob Woodward and the Watergate Myth

Richard Nixon came into office in 1969 with 550,000 conscripts in Vietnam, 200 to 400 coming home dead every week, no exit strategy, and anti-war and race riots constantly erupting all over the country. There were no relations with China and no substantive discussions in progress with the Soviet Union or the principal Arab states. Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy had been assassinated in 1968, and the routine skyjacking of civil airliners had begun. By 1972, Nixon had withdrawn from Vietnam with a non-Communist government still in place in Saigon, had opened relations with China, signed the greatest arms-control agreement in history with the USSR, ended school segregation while avoiding the lunacy of court-ordered busing of millions of schoolchildren around the metropolitan areas of the country for “racial balance” (i.e., chaos), started a peace process in the Middle East, founded the Environmental Protection Agency, and abolished the draft. There were no more riots, skyjackings, or high-level assassinations.

What we now know for fact, is that Nixon was no more corrupt than Obama or the Clintons.

In fact, they are much worse than he ever was.

If only said; I deleted all those personal conversations with my pilates instructor.

Isn’t he the a**hole who interviewed a dead Casey to find out that J Edgar wore a dress? And this total fool still has credibility?

Man, is this guy milikng this whole watergate thing or what. That whole thing really gave the media its sense of power. They were after Nixon for years after he nailed Alger Hiss, and they got him. As the writer says, there was never any proof that any of the so called “”smoking gun “ stuff ever happened. Looking back, it all seems so silly now, compared to today. Donald Segretti did a year in prison ...for calling up and cancelling Democrat campaign events...oh the horror.....geez

Woodward and Bernstein: Leftist liars in the service of the North Vietnamese Army since 1975.

Woodward and Bernstein, Katharyn Graham, perhaps three of the biggest frauds this nation has belched up.

The left was out to get Nixon on anything they could find. He was their longtime enemy.

That’s what started the entire American news industry on a holy crusade against Nixon.

Applying Occam’s Razor to history can lead to some interesting conclusions.

One of which is that Woodward and Bernstein were not so much Intrepid Reporters On A Mission as the stalking horses for the Hoover clique in the FBI, which was angry that Nixon didn’t pick one of their own as the new Director.

That part about “over 550,000 conscripts” were in Vietnam is blatant B.S. Not everybody who went to Vietnam was drafted. A large percentage voluntarily enlisted.

“founded the Environmental Protection Agency”

The national review thinks this is a positive?

“founded the Environmental Protection Agency”

Now a communist organization that wants to takeover private lands and shut down anyone who doesn’t agree with them that ‘global warming/climate change’ is going to kill us all.

Dear God it all seems sooooo small and petty when compared with today. Nixon did accomplish good for the country, though I wouldn’t put the EPA in that category. His problem, one that made it easy for people to dislike him, was how quirky and odd he was. He was just a guy we couldn’t warm up to, but probably didn’t deserve the hatred many harbored toward him.

I never minded Woodward much, though his politics are awful. Bernstein is an ugly and vindictive SOB. And waaaaay left.

National Review doesn't necessarily think this, but possibly Conrad Black does.
