I have come to the conclusion that the Middle East was better off under Nasserite type dictators. Even in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, such leftist terrorists like the PFLP were less dangerous than Hamas. Lets look at four real scenarios.

Afghanistan-Iraq- military intervention with occupation and nation building- Failure

Libya - military intervention with no occupation or nation building - Failure

Syria - no military intervention and no nation building - Failure

Egypt - Nasserite dominance of government-Success

Only a fool would conclude that anything other than a Arab Nationalist military rule can succeed with such people. And isn't that the crux of the matter, the inhabitants. Every time they are given a chance to make something of their lives, they engage in self destruction. They need a boot on their neck to show them the way. Lets be honest, peoples are not equal. Some have been nurtured by hundreds of years of Western Civilization, while others have been nurtured by hundreds of years of Barbarism. Neither a Bush or an Obama can change their basic natures, no matter what course they choose.
