The government is going to pull the plug on the solar industry’s key tax credit as evidence mounts that the often touted renewable source cannot compete with traditional energy.
“Solar power’s value as a grid resource is limited because we simply can’t count on it to meet peak demand in the evenings,†Travis Fischer, economist at the Institute for Energy Research, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “In fact, solar power could cause major problems if implemented on a wide scale due to its daytime-only production profile.â€
Solar power has been on the rise in the U.S. and is often touted as the technology of the future, but the industry relies heavily on government incentives due to the costly installation of panels. Solar power also faces criticism due to its unreliability during the power grid’s peak demand hours.

Nobody seemed to care as the Coal Industry lost thousands of jobs. Refire the coal plants and send the greenies to work in the mines. Add jobs, grow economy.

Peak demand for power is during business hours, excepting a smaller peak during 6:00 - 8:00 PM. One reason why power can be cheaper during the evening is because the demand is low. Some business take advantage of that price difference.
There are lots of other issues that limit the potential for solar, but this argument is weak.
This is true as well. And there is an expensive maintenance commitment that will always be a problem with wind energy. The maintenance MUST be subsidized or "utility rates will necessarily have to sky rocket."
The solar power fraud was developed solely to funnel taxpayer funds to political “friends” then from the “friends” to the politicians. Game! Set! Match! The solar power fraud flows directly from the “Climate Change,” “Global Warning” fraud.
This should always be the standard. If it can’t survive on its own, government must not attempt to prop it up.
If solar power becomes efficient, politicians will try and outlaw it. (prohibit solar panels, regulation, taxation)

And just remind the environazis that it’s “where the rain never falls and the sun never shines, it’s dark as a dungeon way down in the mines”; it is also where the energy is to be found.
The windmills are also an ugly blight on the landscape.
Then maybe it shouldn’t.
No subsidies. Period.
1. If I were to install solar power, it would be because I wanted it, ROI or not, as a backup. I bought a plug-in hybrid for that reason - because I wanted it, not because it made great economic sense.
2. Rural electrification and telephone service would not exist without subsidy. Let’s be up-front from a policy standpoint.

I’d send them into the deepest darkest mines without any shoring, respiratory protection or modern mining equipment. Just a shovel, push cart and dead canary. They can eat whatever they find down there.
Without givernment subsidies, there is alternative power market nor profit at the taxpayer expense.
A continous and ongoing bailout so Dems should hate it.
I consider ethanol a quality of life purchase. Of course I only purchase it in highly diluted 12 ounce and one quart amounts.
