Consumers confidence fell in November to the lowest level in more than a year, a survey shows. The consumer confidence index dropped to 90.4 from a revised 99.1 in October, the Conference Board said Tuesday. That's the lowest level since September 2014. Economists polled by MarketWatch had expected the index to rise to 100. The present situation index, a measure of current conditions, dropped to 108.1 from 114.6. .... "The decline was mainly due to a less favorable view of the job market," said Lynn Franco, director of economic indicators at board. The number of people who said jobs were hard to find rose while the percentage who said jobs were plentiful declined.

Yeah, what a surprise. With all the capitalist leadership from the White House, and its ilk, how could we not have such a robust economy?? And supporting the dollar, the strong confidence and respect the world has for same.....

Retailer earnings reports are coming in from the third quarter. Almost all are disappointing. Many are reporting negative year-to-year sales.

People are nervous going into the holiday season. Layoffs are being announced, terrorism is in the headlines, the president seems to be floundering, and the political season is heating up. Many people are experiencing health care insurance sticker shock and trying to figure out how to absorb in 2016 thousands of dollars in higher premiums and deductibles. Managers at many companies are writing performance appraisals in preparation for salary reviews and have been told to hold the line at 2% or less. Social Security recipients already know they aren’t getting an increase in 2016. These factors suggest a poor Christmas shopping season. Too bad the GOP doesn’t know how to message this to the public.

yes, but now I must concentrate on what to get my wife for Christmas.

If I spend too much she might chide me for extravagance in such hard times.

If I spend too little....... well you know.

what a hellova dilemma

Unless you are selling weapons, food, or ammo, Americans aren’t interested.

My confidence level is fairly high -

It is almost certain that Barack Obama is going to bring catastrophic disaster to the USA before January 2017.

And there are SO MANY JOBS!

From recent personal experience, I see many companies have job "openings", but they're quietly waiting to get foreigners with H1B visas to come in and work for 30% less $ than normal Americans.
