The truth is she proves why concealed carry is so much better in a situation like this.
As soon as the robber brandished and said his intent, his attention has to be all over the map. He has to watch the couple, order them to do things, watch out for police or witnesses, pay attention to his confederate and direction of escape, etc.
All she has to do is wait for the right moment, draw on him and fire, or not, at *any* time, her choice. Very focused.
Then he made the fatal mistake of watching her boyfriend, figuring that he was the one who would act. He had no idea if one or the other or both of them were armed.
All of this stuff adds up big time.
I encourage people to get with a friend and a couple of cap pistols, and do mugger-victim role play, playing it straight. It’s mind boggling how much advantage cc has over the brandished gun of a robber.

Here in California there are a few more steps to consider.
From the trunk of the car get the gun out of the locked gun box or container. Gun and ammo cannot be in the same location in the auto while transporting.
unlock the container and remove gun
Get into the car and retrieve the magazine and ammo
load magazine with ammo
put magazine in gun
ready the gun for firing by cocking hammer or pulling the slide
Make sure safety is off
Pull trigger if you're still alive by this time.
