Cruz Tops New Kristol Clear Straw Poll

Sen. Ted Cruz grabbed the top spot in a new presidential straw poll — the first time the Texas lawmaker has done so in seven surveys of the GOP field.

In the political magazine The Weekly Standard's survey, Cruz had 30 percent of the first place votes of its readers, followed by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, with 26 percent, and Donald Trump, at 17 percent.

Here's the magazine's tally, with the first number the percentage of the ballots on which the candidate was selected for first place — and the second number representing the percentage of ballots in which the candidate was chosen for any of first, second or third:

Magazine editor and political commentator William Kristol said the straw-poll results seem "more or less in accord with the impressions I formed from a day and a half in Iowa at the end of last week."

"My main takeaway from Iowa was this," he writes. "It's a fluid and volatile race; few Republicans have definitively made up their minds; and a lot depends on what the various candidates say and do, and the cases they make for themselves and against their rivals, in the weeks to come."

He adds he also sensed "Cruz and Rubio were strong, that Trump had solid support, but much less room to grow, .....

3 percent for Jebbie is still 3 percent too much!

If it has to do with Kristol it is by definition a lie.

I like Cruz. The last ally he needs is Bill Kristol.

Weakly Standard subscribers poll? I wouldn’t tinkle on Bill Kristol if he were on fire. Classic sample fail.

“Popcorn polls and feedsack choice polls might give a better measure than telephones. They did, in 1948. In 1948, the group that voted Truman in was less likely to be included in a telephone poll.”

But another nice try Isara. Cruz is a great candidate and I wouldn’t hesitate to vote for him, if Trump recommended him. But this kinda stuff’s for the birds, or DUmmies.

They are the press version of the old Senate lions, as they say, sitting around waiting for their daily masturbate.

Only lately it hasn’t been coming, so to speak.

Since monday, I have heard no less than 4 national PUKENEOS claim that the main reason Trump is doing well, is the many Republicans who don’t have a college degree. All 4 used EXACTLY the same argument and verbiage. They all must have has a Sunday night teleconference : )

My main takeaway is that it is a poll of RINOs and GOPe idiots.

Exactly. Isn’t that a riot.

They’ve hurled every insult in the book at Trump, now they intend to denegrate the people who support him.

Won’t work.

The more they pull this stuff, the more of an underdog people see him as.

I know that’s strange to say him leading and all, but it’s almost unanimous that Trump can’t win. Folks are going to get sick of that and rally around him for that alone.

Love it.

The elitist, country club Republicans are going bat $hit crazy trying to reconcile the disparity between voters for Trump, and themselves. They have decided that it is the uneducated/undereducated Republicans that are at fault. Remember old man Potter in “It’s A Wonderful Life”

Potter: “ What does that get us? A useless rabble, instead of a thrifty working class “

Potter is the quintessential definition of the current GOPe. The 1% reigning over us like feudal lords. Sorry guys, you DIE in 2016.
