Cruz attacks NYT for saying he criticized Trump
Washington Examiner ^ | 12/10/15 | Ryan Lovelace

Ted Cruz said a New York Times report claiming that he criticized Donald Trump is "misleading." The Texas senator's presidential campaign eagerly pushed back against the suggestion that Cruz spoke ill of The Donald at a private fundraiser in New York City.

A Times report citing two anonymous sources at a Madison Avenue luncheon with Cruz said the senator questioned Trump's "judgment." In response, the Cruz campaign sent out a statement blasting the story.

"In the course of a presidential election, the voters are going to make a decision about every candidate," Cruz said. "And ultimately the decision is, who has the right judgment and the right experience to serve as commander-in-chief? Every one of us who is running is being assessed by the voters under that metric, and that is exactly why we have a democratic election to make that determination."

The Texas senator has repeatedly avoided criticizing Trump publicly and openly courts Trump's supporters. Any criticism of Trump would be a major departure from Cruz's past public statements.

Cruz also took umbrage with another major New York publication, the Wall Street Journal, on Thursday for his perception that the paper is biased in favor of Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.

"For the next three months, the Journal should change their header to the 'Marco Rubio for president' newspaper, because their attacks, and it's going to keep coming because Marco fights for the principles they care about," Cruz told MSNBC.

Cruz ranks first in the Washington Examiner's newest GOP presidential power rankings.

I didn’t think Cruz would do that, it’s the media’s way of getting a fight going between Trump and Cruz and they are not playing the game....

I like Cruz very much. But I do like Trump better.
I’ve seen several stories lately which seemed to put Cruz in a bad light (opposing Trump on Muslim immigration, for example) but I mostly figure the media is lying, and so I am reluctant to criticize Cruz for his positions — because there is a good chance that they are not actually his positions.

I think Trump has more charisma and has more cross-over appeal. I think Trump would be more effective in getting things done. Trump is my choice, but I really hope he chooses Cruz as VP. I believe they are a natural team.

I noticed that Trump did not say anything in response, and he would have if he believed it to be real. They are trying to pit Trump against Cruz to take one of them out.

Cruz and Paul came up with the idea before Trump even spoke it. Trump’s is more emphatic and I think that the difference between Trump and Cruz is the Constitutional one, that it would be difficult to force all Muslims to leave, and never allow any to come in. Cruz’s position has been a moratorium, although 6 months is NOT enough. 6 Years, maybe.

There ya go! Media lies again. I cannot or will ever believe CRUZ would pile on the Trump bashing as it is now! CRUZ knows first hand how this works. He is not exactly the establishment’s favorite, ha! Trump and CRUZ are a team. Regardless it’s a win win against the GOPe and the media!

I agree with you. Trump has massive experience leading and Cruz needs to learn more.

Glad he did call them out. After reading this AM had doubts as to the truth of the rumor. If he says, no, then I believe him. TRUMP is needed to fire the missile and Cruz to guide to the target (keeping everything on the up and up Constitution-wise)

BINGO -— I think you’re exactly right. The Trump & Cruz campaigns aren’t falling for it but, unfortunately, some of the supporters from both camps are. That is not smart.

LOL — Trump is a negotiator, so he’ll start out with proposing a 600-year moratorium and settle for a 60-year trial moratorium after which things will be reassessed for possible slight adjustment/relaxation. The Art of the Deal.

You can bet Trump has his own people at all speeches made by his opponents and you can bet as well Cruz has all his comments recorded and documented.

All are well aware of the disgusting tactics used by an ever deteriorating fourth estate.

I listened to entire audio, all 4 minutes 58 seconds and heard nothing close to what Cruz was accused of saying re Trump.

Please point out where it is and also what his words were.

Thanks
