The author writes:
I don’t wish to join the controversy around Donald Trump’s proposal to ban Muslim immigration . . .
If nothing else, this essay certainly does join the controversy, so even bother to use these weasel words. All this does is grant legitimacy to the critics of Trump/Cruz.
Otherwise, I thought it a fine essay.

Islamic terrorists have their new weapon. Just send their jihadists to shoot up any public gathering. No need for elaborate plots, hijacking airplanes or other carefully planned attacks, just come in with AK-47s blazing and a few pipe bombs for good measure. They are aided in using this weapon, by liberals who declare gun free zones, berate honest citizens about carrying guns, neuter our intelligence services and kowtow to Islam with political correctness. Better still liberals will even help bring Islamic radicals into the homeland with hoards of refugees. The new normal will be for all of us to constantly be uneasy about any public gathering or even going out to dinner. No wonder Trumps calls for banning Muslims resonates.
It was a real eye-opener to me about how critical things must be over there.
“We are in denial, we are at war but we don’t want to see it.”
Exactly.
The magic trick to post the whole article is to try it. FRee Republic will tell you if it is not permissible and then you can just trim it down to 300 words using your delete button in the posting box. Many sites do not object, and many more permit only a precis to be posted.
A lot of the blogs don’t seem to care. I guess they pride themselves on being repeated ad infinitum on the Internet. I try to post the whoe thing whenever I can because most readers are too impatient to click through to another page, and they often miss some really good points.
