ST. PAUL — The Cruz campaign is making a list. As attendees packed a reception hall in Minnesota on the first night of Senator Ted Cruz’s seven-day, 12-city tour, they were greeted by an uncommon supporter: a costumed Santa Claus, posing with children and more than a few adults beside a fireplace.

‘Packed”?! Reports elsewhere say 500 people! Let’s be clear, Cruz does NOT draw crowds. Never has. Granted, bigger than hapless Bush, but not even remotely like Trump does at EVERY event.

Groan! Here we go with the Trumpbot bottom feeders.
Listen dude, the New York Times is the most anti-Cruz major newspaper on the planet. They are hardly likely to Inflate numbers to make Cruz look better. If anything, bit would be the opposite of that. If they say it was packed, it was packed.

Cruz doesn’t enjoy the same level of support Trump has, we all know that. But there’s nothing wrong with having Santa around so supporters can bring their kids to the events.

Intellectuals rarely draw as big a crowd as showmen. Obama drew big crowds. What’s the point?

Gee, Trump doesn’t even have to hand out cookies ;) Seriously, you all don’t find this just a little scary. Amassing voter data through photos?

“The Santa’s optically good anyway. It’s a Christmas tour, it makes total sense,” said Jeff Roe, Mr. Cruz’s campaign manager. “But you still have to run a campaign when these are over. You can”t just come out and do rallies and have nothing left when you leave except for a bunch of uneaten cookies. Now we’re going to have living data of people. They’ll have an experience they’ll remember forever.”

Past efforts to amass voter data through photography had been too complicated and time-consuming, Mr. Roe said - a jumble of business card accumulation and handwritten names.

Oh. Not so family oriented after all.

And this.. "Mr. Roe said the campaign, known for its sophisticated data operation, had been brainstorming ways to connect with supporters since an August swing through several southern states. About 19,000 people attended 13 rallies during that trip, he said, but the campaign was disappointed not to collect more information from them."

There's another candidate that gets that many at each rally.

I find it really scary that they are focusing so much on information collection, especially photos. What is the ulterior motive?

You’re right, that’s not a notable number of people is it?

Wanting the lead info is understandable, seems to be a bit desperate to involve Santa though.
