Christmas Day the snow turned red (trunc)
UK Daily Mail ^ | 12/23/2015 | Antony Beevor

A clear cold Christmas,’ General George S. Patton of the U.S. Army wrote in his diary. ‘Lovely weather for killing Germans, which seems a bit queer, seeing Whose birthday it is.’ The skies had finally cleared with intense frosts moving in from the east, offering an opportunity for Allied fighter bombers — previously hampered by cloud — to break up German attacks as they were assembling. Christmas Day 1944 witnessed some of the most blood-soaked, desperate fighting of the war in what became known as the Battle of the Bulge.

Any day is a good day to crush evil. May God bless the Greatest Generation who defeated Nazism & fascism, the Baby Boomers who defeated Communism, and current generations who now are fighting the New Crusade against the false religion & radical ideology of Islam (albeit with hands tied behind their backs).

The thought came to me just two days ago as I was contemplating Patton’s assignment to the shadow army in England, which ultimately came to the rescue in the Battle of the Bulge. Did an all knowing God have anything to do with the seeming demotion, that led to the command that Patton thought not very rewarding and his placement in Europe after D Day when his style was so desperately needed to stop the last ditch enemy advance.

I saw a news clip the other day from a CBS reporter at the Pentagon explaining why the Obama Administration thinks it’s so hard to cut off ISIS’s revenue from oil (I’m not making this up). She said:

1) We can’t bomb the oil wells that ISIS controls because that would cause environmental problems.

2) Same thing for the refineries.

3) And even if we did bomb the refineries, she explained, ISIS would just dig pits in the ground and boil the oil in the pits to make gasoline. CBS had some film of burning oil in a pit and the claim was that this is crude but it works. (There was no attempt at an analysis of how much gasoline can be produced via pit burning vs. a full-scale refinery.)

4) And finally, we can’t bomb the oil tanker trucks because the ISIS drivers might get hurt, or even killed!

Imagine trying to win WWII like this.

One of our future President Trump’s heroes is General George Patton (whom if you look at pics of the two of them side by side, actually bear some resemblance to each other). Patton loved his country, and Donald Trump loves our country, and will fight for her tooth and nail as did Patton, both in their unique way.

Both are winners who popped up in history at a crucial point in time to save our Country from the evils that lurk within and without. God bless America and those that fight for her freedoms.

If you haven't yet done so, read Ladislas Farago's biography, Patton: Ordeal and Triumph (1963). Best book on Patton I've read, and the one upon which much of the 1970 movie was based.

Also, the full text of Patton's speech to units of his 3rd Army command is found here (better than the movie version):

Patton on profanity: “You can’t run an army without profanity; and it has to be eloquent profanity. An army without profanity couldn’t fight its way out of a piss-soaked paper bag.”

In today’s uber-PC military, you can’t even fart sideways, lest you be put on report.

Nothing politically correct about Patton. I love it.

Thank you for the info re Patton. I went to Amazon, and there is a Kindle edition of the book. I bookmarked the page, and after the holidays are over, will purchase it. Will make for good reading during the doldrums of January, when IL, where I live, plunges into a deep freeze of darkness and gloom.

Will listen to Patton’s speech you posted, first chance I get. What a treat, a twofer, book and speech. Thanks so much for posting this info, so that not only I, but anyone reading your comment here, can enjoy a bit of Patton at their leisure.
