President Barack Obama is expected to announce in the coming days a new executive action with the goal of expanding background checks on gun sales, people familiar with White House planning said.
Described as "imminent," the set of executive actions would fulfill a promise by the President to take further unilateral steps the White House says could help curb gun deaths.
Plans for the action are not yet complete, and those familiar with the process warn that unforeseen circumstances could delay an announcement. But gun control advocates are expecting the new actions to be revealed next week, ahead of Obama's annual State of the Union address, set for January 12.
The White House wouldn't comment directly on the exact timing or content of Obama's executive orders. White House spokesman Eric Schultz said that the President expected a set of recommendations on unilateral action to arrive at the beginning of the year.
He said Obama was "expressing urgency" for a list of steps he can take on his own after high-profile incidents of gun violence at the end of this year.

A spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association said the group had no comment The group previously told CNN that Obama's "gun control agenda was rejected by Congress. Now, he is doing what he always does when he doesn't get his way, defying the will of the people and using executive action."

Gun control advocates say Obama could take action himself by issuing a regulation that provides expanded guidance on who falls under the "in the business" standard.

OFail is not going to do anything except flap his yap just like he did after Sandy Hook. If there was anything he could do to restrict firearms he would already have done it in spades. Even if he tries something illegal it will get slapped down by a judge within 30 days.

Back in my military days we were taught we were not to follow an unlawful order and could be court-martialed if we willingly did so.
An unlawful Executive Order should likewise be disobeyed by we the people.

According to the Constitution, the president doesn’t make laws, the Congress does. An executive order cannot create law. If the Republicans don’t stand up to him on this, they are not in line with the Constitution. The people should start deluging them with E-mails, letters, phone calls and all other forms of communication, insisting that they shoot the clown down.
If they let this jackass get away with trying to write law with executive orders, then everybody will know what clowns they are. The 2016 election will have some bizarre results. A lot of them will be shocked when they lose, at least that’s how I hope it will go. It really should.

I got an announcement and most of you probably are in agreement with mine. WE DON’T CARE what you announce. No, really. Tired of our rights being abrogated. It is what it says.

I hate to admit it, but he’s only affecting how you can “buy” them and not anything about “keep and bear”. He’s actually helping you “keep” them by making it harder for someone else to “buy” them.

Oh, he’ll do something. It won’t be as much as a lot of people thnk he will, but it will be more than he’s allowed under the law and Constitution.
Centerpiece will be the touted 50-gun annual sales to be considered “in the business” of firearms sales, this triggering paperwork and background checks. It may not be exactly 50 guns (could be more, could be less) but he’s spent so much time signalling to gun control advocates that he will do this that it’s next to impossible for him to back out.
Hell - They can't even vet a racist mulatto dope smoking president with no birth certificate who grew up in a muslim country and was schooled in a muslim madrasa.
