Former Arizona congresswoman and gun control advocate Gabby Giffords (D) will endorse Hillary Clinton for president this week, a spokeswoman confirmed to The Huffington Post.
Giffords' husband, astronaut Mark Kelly, will also back Clinton. The endorsement is a personal one, however, separate from the couple's political action committee, Americans for Responsible Solutions, which is dedicated to curbing gun violence.
The endorsement was first reported by CBS News.
Friday marked five years since a gunman shot Giffords in the head and killed six others at a constituent meeting outside a supermarket in Tucson. After an impressive recovery, Giffords and her husband began to lobby for gun control.

As a former member of Congress, here’s a little refresher for her:
Title 18. Section 2071 United States Code
(a) Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.
(b) Whoever, having the custody of any such record, proceeding, map, book, document, paper, or other thing, willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; AND SHALL FORFEIT HIS OFFICE AND BE DISQUALIFIED FROM HOLDING ANY OFFICE UNDER THE UNITED STATES. As used in this subsection, the term “office” does not include the office held by any person as a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the United States.”
Yes, the mentally ill vote. They can’t get guns, but they vote all the time.
My mom has late middle stage Alzheimers. She will definitely want to vote still because she thinks nothing is wrong with her. The only thing we could do is to tell her thst she did vote because she won’t remember. She was conservative to the core, but a lot of the people around her like my bro and the caregivers are liberal so if they helped her to vote, who knows whom she would vote for, and this is true in a zillion other families dealing with Alz or other mental illnesses.
