‘We never have had one!!’

I’m not quite as certain of that. We may, in fact, have one now.

I guess is why people are leaving NY in droves

I avoid NY state whenever I can.

I would pay money to NOT go there!

And, I will spend next to nothing there when I have to go there; and by this I mean the state. NYNY is to me "off limits".

(It's a "values" thingie).

.

My entire family left there when I was seven. They said it was no place to bring up a girl let alone a family. So dad, mom, uncle, two brothers and me left for Washington state. Never been happier living here.

I used to go to New York City a dozen times a year. When DeBlasio became mayor I decided to not go back. He can have his cesspool.

Cruz needs to double down on his attacks on “New York values”. Most Americans just aren’t that into New York. If he offends New Yorkers, so what? He has zero chance of winning the state. On the other hand, attacks on New Yorkers could be as effective in drawing voters as attacks on the media.

I offer a line to the Cruz campaign, free of charge. When next Trump or Cuomo go into high dungeon and demand an apology for insulting them with his comments on New York values, he should say, as John Elder did in John Wayne’s “The Sons of Katie Elder”, “My pappy told me two things. Never mess with another man’s wife, and never insult another man unintentionally. So if I’ve insulted you you can be goddamn sure I intended to”.

Not only would the quip smack down the BS about alleged disrespect for “New York values”; it would also be an effective way of intruding Trump’s colorful alleged marital infidelities into the conversation. Marla Mapes and Yvonna Trump would be back in the news!

New York elites would shriek in in indignation, but vastly more Americans would cheer lustily.

... except for that posse comitatus thing ...

He can’t use Title X troops to enforce laws on US soil short of a declared rebellion.

Now the FBI and DHS, they could be mobilized.

“He can’t use Title X troops to enforce laws on US soil short of a declared rebellion.”

Sedition is rebellion. And the federal bureaucracy doesn’t qualify as civilians. The president, as the chief executive, has control over the executive bureaucracy. If Cruz finds that the bureaucracy is involved in sedition, he certainly can call up the military to squelch the rebellion.

Wasn’t there a story posted here about Cuomo’s not particularly happy personal life involving his ex-wife, who happens to be a Kennedy? The reaction to Cruz’s comments from ones like Cuomo is not surprising, but still breathtakingly hypocritical in many instances.

“Why the Screaming Eagles?”

You have a point. The 2ndMarDiv is only a couple hours up on I-95. So, Marines it is.

I like Cruz on (most) policy positions (w/ reservations about where he is on immigration & status of illegals in-country), but about the NBC thing, I'm not sold. He needs declaratory relief and a whole lot of tall 'splainin' from a monumental con-law attorney to close the deal.

Ideally, he needs an endorsement of his eligibility from an attorney on the other side, someone like Lawrence Tribe (who, remember, was law-minded enough to side with the pro-2A people 20 years ago on a plain reading of the Amendment, and against the "militia" interpretation spread around by the U.S. vs. Miller opinion intended to be FDR's test case for the NFA.)

The problem is, he might get one of Slick and Obama's small army of ideological left-wing judges who'd try to screw him up any way they could.

Rush EIB - Jan 15, 2016:

New York Values: The Drive-By Love Affair with Trump Won’t Last

RUSH: It was... Wait, wait, wait. You don’t know the context. The context is that Cruz made the statement some days ago attempting to... It was his way of trying to tell people Trump is not a conservative, and it was, you know, talking about all this stuff for Cruz’s birth and his eligibility and Trump leading the fight on that. Cruz retorts — and there might have been one other thing that did come up. But he was referring to Donald’s “New York values.” People said, “Whadda you mean? What are New York values. What do you mean New York values?”

Well, we all know what New York values are, and you heard him say that last night. Then Trump... You ought to see the Drive-Bys right now. The Drive-Bys have done a 180. They love Trump! Trump is the best guy. I mean, every New York liberal journalist I ever heard of has written today glowing, praising Trump. “He got silent! We saw the real Trump for the first time. We saw that he has a soul. We saw that Trump has a heart. We saw that Trump is a New Yorker, and he just buried Ted Cruz!” That’s the reaction inside the big Apple media......

RUSH: Let me address this, because you have a very, very good point. I’ll tell you another thing about this, and I think this is representative of a divide. Now, in New York, as I say, everybody in the media thought this was a big faux pas, that Cruz was actually winning the debate ‘til this happened. He threw it away, and that Trump just wiped the floor. “This the best Trump had ever been, this was so good! He just pounded Cruz and kept pounding, and Cruz he was so humiliated didn’t even say anything back.”

But outside New York, the thing that you’re talking about is true: Everybody does know what New York values means. Here’s the thing. Trump is praising the cops and firefighters and the first responders and all that, but who is it that’s under attack in New York? The cops! The mayor is making the cops out to be the absolute worst aspect of the city. It’s nothing new. All of liberalism is out pummeling the police every day. So while, yeah, on 9/11, everybody praised what happened, it’s kind of like the Democrats got on board with Bush for a couple days after 9/11....
