Hillary Calls for Legalization of Drugs (Vanity)
NBC. News YouTube Debate ^ | Today | HRC

Posted on 01/17/2016 6:54:36 PM PST by ifinnegan

At a commercial break in the Demonrat debate, You Tube showed a little speech by Hillary where she began talking about opioid addiction and the drug problem.

She called for federal money for programs and said police need to always have an antidote for opioid overdose with them at all times m

She ended this short NBC produced spiel by saying drug use needs to cease being a criminal issue and be put where it belongs, as a health issue.

Not a vanity.

More like breaking news, but I understand where you are coming from.

"My accomplishments as Secretary of State?

. Well, I'm glad you asked!
My proudest accomplishment in which I take the most pride, mostly because of the opposition it faced early on, you know... the remnants of prior situations and mind-sets that were too narrowly focused in a manner whereby they may have overlooked the bigger picture, and we didn't do that, and I'm proud of that. Very proud. I would say that's A major accomplishment."

- Hillary Clinton 11 March 2014

They’re illegal because government can’t tax it. Same with prostitution - they can’t tax it.

I looked it up.

It was actually the debate.

Here us the transcript.

CLINTON: Well, Lester, you’re right. Everywhere I go to campaign, I’m meeting families who are affected by the drug problem that mostly is opioids and heroin now, and lives are being lost and children are being orphaned. And I’ve met a lot of grandparents who are now taking care of grandchildren.

So I have tried to come out with a comprehensive approach that, number one, does tell the states that we will work with you from the federal government putting more money, about a billion dollars a year, to help states have a different approach to dealing with this epidemic.

The policing needs to change. Police officers must be equipped with the antidote to a heroin overdose or an opioid overdose, known as Narcan. They should be able to administer it. So should firefighters and others.

We have to move away from treating the use of drugs as a crime and instead, move it to where it belongs, as a health issue. And we need to divert more people from the criminal justice system into drug courts, into treatment, and recovery.

I understand that the little Clinton dog enticed her wandering husband home long enough to pipe her into a second pregnancy and perpetuate the charade.

Just wonderful when our kids grow up and don’t become mindless drones. I like it! It’s a bright light. I told my kids if I saw them taking a dump on a police car... I would whip their grown behinds. They rolled their eyes... Then I told them.. No frozen peanut butter pies at thanksgiving.. Now we are talking common sense politics.. Even Reagan. Just kidding about the first part.. They rolled their eyes because they wouldn’t dream of it... And knew I would do it.

But that was her entire proposal.

No it wasn't.

Maybe you stopped reading my post after this: "I'd consider legalizing drugs...", but the rest of the sentence is, "as long as not a single penny of government money was spent on rehad..."

thanks. i didn’t watch the debate. reading that statement closely, the only conclusion one can draw is that she’s calling for legalization of street drugs, though without overtly saying that as such.

A sharp reporter would pick up on that and quote that back to her and ask her if she’s actually calling for legalization, but of course we know that will never happen because Hillary will never subject herself to an interview with a reporter who wasn’t in the tank for her.

She wants a billion dollars to go for rehab.

So I have tried to come out with a comprehensive approach that, number one, does tell the states that we will work with you from the federal government putting more money, about a billion dollars a year, to help states have a different approach to dealing with this epidemic.

Health issue means rehab and counseling etc...

If you legalize drugs, then a lot of people will find themselves with no compulsion to get their lives in order and be productive.

So you think there are a lot of people who currently avoid drugs because they're illegal, but who would under legalization not avoid using to the point of disorderliness and unproductivity? Why should anyone believe this? Are you such a person?

I'm OK with legalizing drugs for recreational use as long as the drugs are required to contain ingredients that will have cumulative "terminal effects" on the user over a relatively short span of use - say, 1 week.

Does that include the recreational drug alcohol?

I do know people who carefully avoid breaking the law.
These people would not try drugs: they are illegal.

If the drugs were legal, these people might be willing to “give it a taste”. Why not? It’s perfectly legal.

And some people who try drugs find that they they like them. A lot. It can become a problem.

I don’t mean to overstate the case, but the number of people who would find their lives messed up by access to legal drugs is greater than zero.

And execute the drug dealers.

They're already executing each other, yet replacements always spring up - because criminalization makes the money too good to pass up in the eyes of many.

Agreed.

I doubt it's greater than the number of people whose lives are messed up by criminals' enrichment from drug criminalization - and I think it's wrong to mess up lives that way to prevent some from self-messing.

The recreational use of alcohol does have cumulative terminal effects, and the people who use it that way should be denied health insurance.
