Perhaps they realize Trump is going to win. They have to get behind the nominee at some point. If Cruz ends up winning, they will support him as well.
That’s not what the GOPe is saying. Many of them are loudly trumpeting that if Ted Cruz wins, they will launch a GOPe revolt in within the party.

Ask yourself why they ( COle, McCain, McConnell, Graham. Barr, Coryn) are trying to kill Cruz prior to Iowa and why they want to make nice with Trump.
