I suspect this is because of the number of people impacted; there is a large part of our population impacted by this.
This is hardly earth-shattering, but it is not a run-of-the-mill storm. Here in north Jersey we are getting much more than was forecast.
Well...it is winter after all. It snows in winter...sometimes a lot of snow.
Seriously??? Martial law???? For a snowstorm????
We truly have become a nation of pussies. And sheep.
Then they go all panicky about how their viewers should take care of themselves and blah, blah, blah. It is not like the majority haven't been through winter before. It's cold and it snows during winter. Sometimes there's a major storm or two. Gee, don't get your undies in a wad Media people.

I remember it clearly living in Western NY as a senior in High School with a part time job that I walked to.
I had to shut Government CUUMO off because he kept running at the mouth; obviously has it bad for the sound of his own voice.
And On that blurb, notice 2nd worst prez Carter saying “crisis” over and over and over again.
Sure; but this might hit the record for NYC snowfall. It is a bit unusual. Here in NJ most businesses are closed (also unusual).
In the NYC area I’m sure there are a lot of people who have never seen snow before (due to our open border); this was illustrated in DeBlasio’s election, when his opponent tried to scare voters with stories of the Dinkins administration. It failed completely because more than half of NYers weren’t even here during that prior disaster.
This was not a routine snow storm; it was heavier, and a lot of mass transit (as well as Hudson River crossings) was shut down. It stopped snowing around midnight, and I wouldn’t be shocked if schools are closed tomorrow.
Nothing like having 30 fireman going in and out of your hose for 4 hours, I don’t know what caused more damage, the fire or the fix. I was not at Vicenza but I know some Buds from the 173rd Abn. that were, Said it was a great post one of the best to be stationed at.
I “lived” in WDC for 30 years. They’d close schools, govt offices and businesses if there was a snow cloud sighted in Wyoming.
I hear the commie tried to announce his warning in Spanish yesterday.
..... Sorry about your fire. Used to be a product you could toss in the wood stove or fireplace that would extinguish a chimney fire. Like a manufactured log ya threw in and it killed the fire or smothered / starved it of air.....

Well, it looks like they got walloped with this. Here in NJ (NYC metro area) parents oppose closing the schools (since it doubles as daycare); NYC in particular rarely closes. In the ghetto areas the kids just don’t come anyway; the mothers (I won’t dignify this statement with “parents”) pass up the free breakfasts & lunches because “it cold”.
He’s going to need a lot more than Spanish; just across the Hudson from them the county north of me in NJ just added Korean to their ballots and other government business. I saw a news story about the number of languages spoken by NYC school kids, and it was incredible (dozens and dozens); it is a sanctuary city because without those imported children there would be no education industry in NYC (and much of NJ as well).
Western snow is powdery stuff. The snow out here in the east is heavier and wetter stuff.

Even one inch of this mess **is** a major event.
