Obama to propose $10 per barrel fee on oil
CNBC ^ | 2/4/2016 | Jacob Pramuk

President Barack Obama will propose a $10 per barrel charge on oil to fund clean transportation projects as part of his final budget request next week, the White House said Thursday.

The proposal would have difficulty clearing the Republican-controlled Congress.

Oil companies would pay the fee, which would be gradually introduced over five years. The government would use the proceeds to fund high-speed railways, autonomous cars and other travel systems.

"By placing a fee on oil, the President's plan creates a clear incentive for private sector innovation to reduce our reliance on oil and at the same time invests in clean energy technologies that will power our future," the White House said in a statement.

..Oil companies would pay the fee,...

Total BS. Does he think he can get us to believe that won’t be added on to the retail price? But, when has that mattered to fringe lunatic Socialist liberals like him?

Although unlikely, let’s just see if McConnell and Ryan have the guts to stand up to this clown.

I think that’s about 25% of the current cost of oil. Would he agree to add a 25% tax to the price of abortions, and send that money to abortion alternative service providers? How about adding a 25% tax to all ObamaCare policies, and sending that money to private insurers that are exempt from ObamaCare regulations?

re: “Oil companies would pay the fee,. . .”

Triple face palm!! This same crap over and over again. How STUPID do you have to be to believe this excrement?? Oil companies will pay the fee???

I’m not a big fan of oil companies, but anyone who thinks THEY pay this fee should just be neutered with a dull deer antler.

He wants to help his green pals. I mean hundreds of billions of our money he has given must not be enough for them.

“Any Republican in congress that votes for this BETTER be run out of office on a rail in November.”

Who needs a vote? Re-interpret EPA rules to introduce it as an impact fee. Once the money starts rolling in, they will never get rid of it.

Congress need not be involved at all, if we are following the template.

President Barack Obama will propose a $10 per barrel charge on oil to fund clean transportation projects as part of his final budget request next week, the White House said Thursday.

And in what decade will those projects be "shovel ready?"

Yep, they will get their hands on $60 billion taken away from consumers of petroleum products. Nothing will be built except for democrat war chests.

Hello Venezuela.

Taxes are the closest thing to immortality.

Once they're in place, it's near impossible to wean the politicians getting fat at our expense.

It would have to pass the House and even with Ryan there is no way they will take up this WH proposal and make it their own in an election year.
