Trump Goes Code Pink on George W. Bush
Politico ^ | February 14, 2016 | By Michael Grunwald

Posted on 02/14/2016 6:25:46 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

It was weird that an angry Code Pink-style protester interrupted last night's Republican presidential debate with a barrage of familiar Democratic talking points about George W. Bush - that he lied the country into a disastrous war in Iraq, failed to prevent the September 11 attacks, and even whiffed on an opportunity to kill Osama bin Laden. It was especially weird that the protestor was one Donald J. Trump, who happens to be the front-runner for the Republican nomination.

Trump didn't just call the Iraq war a mistake. He called it "a big fat mistake." And he didn't call it an inadvertent mistake because of faulty intelligence. "They lied!" he thundered. "They said there were weapons of mass destruction .. and they knew there were none. Trump even groused that the war cost $5 trillion that could have helped rebuild America's crumbling infrastructure, a common Democratic attack line that sounded like a canine talking point at a feline convention, especially in military-heavy South Carolina.

Politico = Establishment = Globalist

I do recall Colin Powell in from the U.N. making the case we knew exactly where the WMDs were located.

Then years later W. said there were no WMDs.

Just like paulbots used to do..... What did you think about the Ron Paul Presidency?

The debate had barely even started, and Trump was already voted to be the winner on these scientific polls where only eligible Republican likely voters can vote.

The way I see it, Bush W wouldn’t DEFEND HIMSELF, so why should Trump defend him.

In fact it was Bush W’s REFUSAL TO DEFEND HIMSELF that led directly to the Dems taking over Congress in 2006 and giving them the majority needed to pass Obamacare.

I have NO RESPECT for W or anyone from that family, and GOPe types that try to get to the right of Trump on this can kiss my beutress.

Trump seemed to be campaigning for Democrats who don’t like HRC or the old communist. I guess the high mark of a debate is Rubio continuing to lie about Cruz’s intent in the immigration issue and anything else. Rubio has been called out about his actions, not words and I have less respect for him when he continues to lie about Cruz to deflect from his real record.

By the way, that audience sounded like a bunch of rednecks at a wrestling match. Someone should have told them to shut up. The moderator was a prick. ABC did the best debate by far if you remove Stephanopolous’ ‘Sport Center’ style commentating.

Great video.

W admits that there were no WMD’s and that the war was supposed to advance the “freedom agenda”.

The bushbots will have to update their talking points.

You should send the video to Trump, Drudge, etc.

Trump Will Win South Carolina. He has the same lead and maybe bigger than in New Hampshire.

Trump dominated New Hampshire.

Trump would have probably won Iowa too if Cruz had not been playing dirty tricks.

Trump has thousands at all of his rallies. How many people show up to the other candidates rallies.

Tiger Beat magazine has better sentence structure and premises for writing subtantial articles than Politico’s bitchy daily snipefest.

I’m surprised there are still idiots here in 2016 that think the Iraq War was a GOOD idea!

Even I admit I was wrong in supporting it.

Are you calling those scientific polls?

Drudge’s poll is a joke, you can vote during the debate.

I’m surprised there are idiots here in 2016 that blame Bush over Obama for what has gone wrong in Iraq. It was a secured place until the Obama administration.

Bull. There are lots of conservatives who feel it was a mistake. The mistake wasn’t the war. The mistake was the mess Bush II created afterwards. He should have created an independent Kurdistan and forbade the creation of a state based on Sharial

Here is the simple, painful truth. Trump is with over 60% of the American people in this view.

I was invited to the Oval Office in 2006, along with Victor Davis Hanson, Sir John Keegan, and two other historians to discuss the ongoing war. Bush listened a lot. We strongly recommended that he tie “Islam” to the War on Terror, and that without doing so the mission would lose focus. Victor Hanson actually suggested (and we agreed) that Bush begin using the term “Islamofascism,” since that was the best we could do. He wasn’t going to indict Islam. So I’m hardly a “Code Pink” guy.

But the fact is, 13 years after the invasion of Iraq, a large, large majority of Americans see it as a mistake; most Americans believe there were no WMDs there (regardless of the 500 tons of yellowcake removed or the Russian trucks heading for the border). Trump is with the large majority of Americans on this and by tying Jeb to W, no matter how much the GOPe/donor crowd booed, Trump will see his support rise, especially on the general election.

If his polls are a joke, then how come Trump won New Hampshire?

How come Trump nearly won Iowa if Cruz was not pulling dirty tricks and cheating?

How come thousands show up to Trump Rallies while how many show up to other candidates?

Trump has the same and possibly bigger poll lead in South Carolina then he did in New Hampshire. Oh and you call the polls a joke?

The drudge poll was started after the first hour of the debate. Say what you want, but the scientific polls have gone in the direction of the online polls every single time.

Most people have made up their minds and are not swayed by the debates. For them this is just entertainment.

“Iraq indeed WAS a big fat mistake.”

In hindsight yes, taking out Saddam did make sense at the time, he was a jerk thumbing his nose at agreements that he signed. Thinking that all that was needed to make Iraq a Jeffersonian Democracy was elections was INSANE. Iraq needed another dictator.
