"My parents were killed by a drunk driver, but my parents did not die in vain," he says in the advertisement, which was slated to start airing Friday in South Carolina. "I was transformed. I discovered my purpose by discovering the Lord. I believe the Lord put us on this earth to use the gifts that we've been given to bring about a healing. And that's the motivation for me."

Kasich, who worships at an Anglican church and regularly attends a Bible study group, has always made his spirituality central to his pitch to voters, telling attendees of his over-100 town hall-style meetings in New Hampshire that it is important for communities to grow stronger and speaking of his faith in a more general sense. He often lauded the United States' Judeo-Christian background.

If one cares to, read the whole story. Though I'm not a Kasich supporter first, this is an amazing story of something to overcome and very moving. It also makes some interesting points per religion.

The Kingdom of Heaven is not a landing on the stairway leading up to the White House.

I wouldn’t bother. He’s a total fraud and a creep. His best buddy on the hill and fellow intern-banger was Gary Condit. Tells you all you need to know.

I was put off when Kasich said the courts have spoken and it’s time to move on concerning gay marriage. As a social conservative, that is not what I wanted to hear. I want a candidate to fight for Christian Values, plus the second amendment.

and it is fascinating how no one ever says that to the Left when they demand that a five year old decision Citizens united be over turned.

That would destroy civil rights for conservatives to criticize politicians and yet this is ok to seek as an overturn.

I agree with you about fighting for Christian values.

Kasich is a phony baloney. Hey, he is free to do that, but the facts do not support the claims.

Kasich will help sieve out voters who won't vote for Trump or Cruz at this point, thus weakening the rest of the field.

That’s been known for a long time. Kay Sick went out of his way when he was in the GOP House leadership wanting to attend a fundraiser(!) for Condit (a district that was potentially winnable for the GOP). Those two have had a very peculiar relationship. One that the media would be more than happy to unearth... AFTER Kay Sick got the nomination.

Assuming the connection with Kasich, you might be right.

Interesting timing. Prosecutors withdrew their objection for a retrial of Levy's killer mid-last year, 3 weeks before Kasich formally announced his Presidential run, and Condit has already been brought into it again. Retrial is set for May 2016.

This guy should’ve had his career finished with his exit from Congress. He’s been a RINO disaster in Ohio. The media just would love to have this guy as the Presidential nominee. Too few people know about or remember his close connection to Condit. They’d drop the Condit bomb right before the November elections. That’s why I hope Trump and Cruz keep this guy far away from the ticket.

I wonder if he’s Anglican or Episcopalian? I’m guessing happy clappy evangelical of one of the above.
