In fact, despite his attacks on his party’s donor class and establishment, Cruz, the Texas senator who won last week’s Iowa caucuses, appears to have locked down the support of four of the top six donors ― the Wilks family of Cisco, Texas (the No. 1 donor on POLITICO’s list), New York hedge fund tycoon Bob Mercer (No. 2), Texas energy investor Toby Neugebauer (No. 4) and Illinois manufacturing moguls Dick and Liz Uihlein (No. 6) ― but only one other donor on the list.

Well, good for him!

He’s not a questionable billionaire who got his money from daddy.

Neither did Trump

Borrowed a Million turned it into 10 Billion.

Cruz isn't fighting the Washington Cartel

Clearly he works for them

Dang, you’ve got that Lefitst mentality down pretty good there.

“Born to wealthy.”

Let me guess, “White Privilege” too right?

Are you on board with, “You didn’t build that!” too?

Some FReepers have gone round the bend.

Trump received a $1,000,000 loan from his father and built his empire. Later he inherited his share from his father’s $200,000,000 estate less taxes. That inheritance came well after his future was secured.

Another GOPe talking point out the window. Dear Pinnochio Marco and Pinnoccio Cruz: Enough with the constant lies. If you do not have ideas that can beat Trump then it is better to stay silent than continue to destroy your credibility.

So? Trump has a billionaire donor, too. Does that mean he'll only be beholden to himself and not the voters?
Not everyone was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. What's the problem with getting a little financial help during a campaign?
Reagan didn't do it alone. So is he a monster now too?

What has happened to FR. Everything we used to like is now bad, and everything that was bad is now good

The real point here is backing comes with strings attached. So what exactly is your point? That success runs in the Trump family? That is true except for Donald's older brother who eventually died from excessive alcohol abuse.

But even if Donald had the luxury of starting out above where most people are able to start from, he didn't sit back upon his laurels and rely solely upon his family's wealth. Instead he multiplied that wealth several times over.

Starting from a position of wealth in some ways is even harder because it is so easy to allow yourself to be less motivated to make something of yourself and instead ride the wave of success your parent(s) created.

I guess it doesn’t matter to Trump fans where one gets his money. From taking property from little old ladies in eminent domain cases or from paying off Washington insiders. What a bunch of hypocrisy being espoused here.
I am amazed at the excuses Trumpeteers come up with. We could fill a book with them.

That inheritance came well after his future was secured.

Not to mention he was a partner in his father's business and helped him build it.

“From taking property from little old ladies in eminent domain cases”

Can you cite a case where he took some little old lady’s property by eminent domain? Just one.
