Cruz's Religion Once Wasn't So Obvious
U.S. News And World Report ^ | Jan. 30, 2016 | WILL WEISSERT, Associated Press

...Cruz doesn't tithe. He and his wife donated less than 1 percent of their income to charity and nothing to churches, including to their own in Houston, according to tax returns from 2006 to 2010, the most recent Cruz has released.

His campaign declined requests from The Associated Press to provide recent tax returns or otherwise demonstrate donations since 2010. Cruz has said he and his wife were more focused on using their seven-figure annual income to build a financial foundation for their family.

Cruz's Senate campaign released five years of tax returns through 2010 showing that he and his wife donated about $44,500 of the more than $5 million they made over the period — less than 1 percent of their income.

Those returns didn't include itemized donations, but Cruz gave a list to the San Antonio Express-News in 2012. The newspaper reported that, while some donations went to faith-based organizations, no money was reported to have been donated to churches, including Houston's First Baptist, where the Cruzes have worshipped since 2008.

Cruz responded that he'd "worked and saved to build a solid financial foundation to provide for my children." He has two daughters.

Recently asked about tithing by the Christian Broadcasting Network, Cruz said "I will readily admit that I have not been as faithful in this aspect of my walk as I should have been."

If he does release his post-2010 tax returns, be on the lookout to see if his "tithing" changed.

Has there ever been a bigger phoney to run for POTUS?

Do the other candidates tithe?

This is not an issue for President. He admits he should have, so as a Christian that’s that. He should have. As President, it is a non issue.

Tithing separates the men from the boys.. Religiously speaking.

I am a big fan of Cruz, but i want to see religion OUT of politics. It’s just another club the mainstream media uses to bash conservative candidates. Hint to future candidates: tell them “my faith is between me and God ... Now can we talk about the problems facing the nation?”

Period. End of story.

At least he never donated to Democrats.

Since he didn't produce the actual forms from his signed tax filings which detail the donations, he obviously has something to hide. At least according to the logic he's using against Trump. Maybe most of his contributions went to Planned Parenthood. The list he gave to the newspaper may have conveniently skipped that, just like his campaign finance filings skipped stuff he thought was politically embarrassing.

I think that there are legitimate grounds to criticize Cruz, but most of TrumpRINO's grounds are bogus.

Cruz is too religious and at the same time not religious enough. Things that are totally off limits to criticize Cruz about, are fair game to criticize Cruz about.

This is not an issue for President.

...............................................

It’s an issue for a candidate whose candidacy is largely based on being a true Christian. If he will play loose with God, how will he treat us?

On top of that, doesn’t it make him a little dumb to have not been tithing surely knowing where his ambitions lied and that he would eventually be called on it?

Look in the White Hutt.

As FReeper Lazarus Long used in a tag line: Obama: Fake black man. Fake Messiah. Fake American. How many fakes can you fit in one Zer0?
