Cruz: I'm fine with contested convention
The Hill ^ | 03-09-2016 | Jesse Byrnes

Ted Cruz says he would have no problem with a contested convention over the summer in the event neither he nor Donald Trump secures enough delegates before then to lock up the Republican presidential nomination.

Trump suggested Wednesday morning on "Fox and Friends" that Cruz was making the statement "because he had such a bad night last night."

Er.

Well I have a problem with it.

And I also have a problem with anyone who doesn’t have a problem with it.

Sounds like last chance desperation. Not going to happen. Trump will have it locked up.

Of course you would be Ted. It’s the only way you and the GOPe can win.

Maple Leaf Ted has complete taken the ‘conservative outsider’ mask off. Are there any FReepers still believing his crap?

So is Romney.

So is Rubio.

So is Kasich.

So is any of the wannabes who can’t ‘earn’ their way with delegates.

Cruz hasn’t gone anywhere, he was always there. He simply took the mask off and dropped his rebel act.

There’s a difference between a “contested convention” and a “brokered convention”. The latter is full on GOPe meddling - the former is pretty much normal.

Cruz was always Full Establishent. It took some judicious digging a few months ago to see it. By now there is no excuse for not knowing.

Trump already has 37% of the needed 1237 and this is still basically the first week in March.

Seems like you have a problem with reading comprehension though. He said “in the event neither he nor Donald Trump secures enough delegates before then to lock up the Republican presidential nomination.” If neither of them have enough delegates, it’s the only course of action.

Wasn’t he just saying the other day that there should not be a contested convention? Then again, this is a man who say or do anything to get elected.

In other words, if neither he nor Trump win outright, he is okay with having it play out in accordance with the longstanding rules. So am I.

I'd prefer it, at this point, if Trump just got the delegates he needed so it wouldn't come to that. But if he does and THEN they do a brokered convention anyway and Cruz supports it, the GOP and he are both dead to me.

So I guess with Neil Bush joining him and Lindsey, McConnell, Ryan and media swearing their hatred of Trump at all costs and the recent initiation meeting of the secret cabal he has been inducted in to the organization?

Just Ducky.... quelle surprise.

I'm sure one of them will though. What does everyone else together have, like 10, and unlikely to get more? I seriously doubt Trump and Cruz show up at convention time tied within that margin, meaning one of them would have the critical mass.
