Scott Baio: GOP 'shooting themselves in the head' by not backing Trump
The Hill ^ | March 28, 2016 | Mark Hensch

Posted on 03/28/2016 4:46:22 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Actor Scott Baio on Monday said Republicans are only hurting themselves by not rallying around presidential front-runner Donald Trump.

“It’s a huge mistake,” he said of establishment Republican opposition to Trump on Fox Business Network’s “Cavuto Coast to Coast." "For some reason, they insist and continue to and will not stop shooting themselves in the head. Not the foot, the head.

“I just wish the Republican Party — which I don’t really consider myself a part of anymore, because I don’t trust them on anything — I just wish they would attack Democrats the way they attack their own.” Baio argued that Trump’s take-no-prisoners approach is just what the GOP needs for a general election next November.

“Trump seems to the only guy who seems to have the nerve and the will to attack whomever the Democrat nominee is going to be,” he said.

“Instead of playing by the rules — which we always do, and the other side doesn’t — let’s take the gloves off and do things the right way for once,” the former “Charles in Charge” star added.

I want Charles In Charge of the GOP Establishment. He has more sense than many of those so-called professionals.

In the case of a political party, is it the party that makes the people or the people that make the party? Seems to me if the majority of the people in the party select a candidate and if the party is the people, then the party has spoken.

Or maybe I just naive.

“I just wish the Republican Party... would attack Democrats the way they attack their own.”

That would be attacking themselves, thus shooting themselves twice in the head.

Yeah but the elites don’t like DT or TC so I expect them to throw some new McLame or Rmoney on us this fall.

I have never not voted but right now I have more conservative friends who say they would never vote for this one or that one than I can recall.

I am greatly troubled by this. Our guys need to join forces to win in November, but the well has been poisoned and I am highly skeptical that either of the front-runners have enough steam to win on their own. Just my gut telling me we better get ready for the first President with a vagina.

I’d have no trouble with such a first if that first President is a Republican who believes in the Constitution and National Sovereignty.

If this was a normal election cycle, the establishment would be pressuring Cruz and Kasich to get out, and would be rallying around Trump, giving him daily policy briefings, and gearing up for the general election.

If Trump gets the necessary 1237 delegates, and wins the nomination on the first ballot, I really doubt if the RNC will rally around him, and I suspect their campaign to destroy him will actually continue all the way to November.

What Scott hasn’t realized is the GOP today exists to thwart the citizens ability to stop the Cheap Labor Express.

I agree but that assume the establishment really cares....

we in the base looks at it as we break the establishment to clean out the party

but the party establishment looks that if they destroyed the party ...they break the base

so in other words ....to the establishment..... to them .....they're not really shooting themselves in the head.... they're shooting the base in the head

Fair enough, but that is not the tangled web we are weaving here. I am like you, I guess, I don’t see gender when I support someone’s points. I don’t see skin color, or where they were born or who they are married to.

I just look for the future of our beautiful America. Right now I see darkness. I’ve never been so inclined to expect disaster.

The elitist ivy league school establishment fought Reagan as they are fighting Trump.

I would have thought cruz and Kasich would have had the brains to drop out now and stop helping the establishment, but alas it seems the ivy league handshakes have bene done.

exactly right the whole point of the party now is to protect International crony capitalism.

Crony capitalism is not capitalism at all in that the “Invisible Hand” of the market ..(and that invisible hand was always the General Public) is replaced with a “manipulating favoring hand” of government for the benefit of the connected

They pay a little bit of lip service to the American public for things like social conservatism and budgetary concerns just to string them along... to protect the connected financial interest and benefits

Free market capitalism and american meritocracy was inherently supposed to be legitimate competitive, may the best win game .. the best thrive and the an inefficient die... it’s a fairness even if it is a little brutal

Crony capitalism is a rigged game (the same idea of “chosen” winners and losers as socialism) for the benefit of the connected Elites to the detriment of the middle class and the general American public
