White House press secretary Josh Earnest raised eyebrows during today´s press briefing by suggesting that Democrats would be “justified” to take revenge on the GOP blockade against Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland by blocking a possible GOP president’s nomination for the president´s full term. Earnest was recalling a suggestion President Obama made in an interview with Fox News Sunday in which he said if Republicans continued blocking Garland until he left office then “it is almost impossible to expect” that Democrats wouldn’t retaliate if given the opportunity. The Democrats picked the fights over Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas. Arguably, the Democrats started all of this.
But now they are saying we need to forget all of that history, all of the events which brought us to such a point as we are at now.
If a Republican president had less than a year left in his term, and wanted to appoint the 5th and deciding conservative justice vote to the Supreme Court, would these liberals have the same opinion of court confirmation proceedings??? Well, no. We know this because of the Biden rule, that nominations will not be considered in presidential election years.
And a Republican administration would be within its rights to charge an ex-president and most of his cabinet with treason, too. So what?
Hey, cool. I say we don’t ever confirm another SCOTUS judge, ever. For eternity.

First of all, we can hope democrats will NOT be in charge of the Senate. Secondly I don’t suppose it would occur to democrats that honor, decorum, love of country, just might, (no pun intended) trump vengeance as a core principle. No I guess it wouldn’t.
The DemoRats can do anything they want if the Republicans fail to crush them completely and imprison the leftover scum.
So they would be willing to be in session, without any recesses for 4 years, to prevent a recess appointment?
