As the father of a Border Patrol Agent, one that was twice injured on the job and shot a drug smuggler that tried to kill him, it will be appreciated if you would be more respectful of those on the line and honor them by referring to them by their professional, official, more accurate job title.
I have deep and abiding respect for all who serve to protect our country on the front lines.
Let’s not confuse the essential function with job titles. If an act of congress is necessary to more clearly define the functions, badly eroded by executive fiat over the past twenty four years, then so be it. Those two and a half decades can by no measure be counted as successful despite the commitment of individuals. They are not the problem, the political overseeing apointees determine the amount of effort applied to pursuing enforcement of the charter function of the organization according to law. If the national command authority fails through deliberate flouting of the law, well, we the people have to fix this.
I’m guessing that your son is frustrated by the conditions under which he serves which have nothing to do with the job title. Deeds not words are the concern of all of us.
respectfully,
Cov
