Washington Post ^ | 4/9/2016 | Dan Balz, Philip Rucker and Robert Costa

“Our target date is June 7, but our goal is in the middle of May to be the presumptive nominee,” Paul Manafort, Trump’s newly installed convention manager, who has been given broad authority to shape the campaign, said in a wide-ranging interview here.

Newt Gingrich has said that the pundit class has been wrong about Trump since the beginning of his run. The pundits have got nothing right about Trump. This article is a month old but Manafort was 100% correct and the rest were all wrong.

Nate silver tweeted on 4/9/2016 about the above article the following:

"This is delusional on the part of Trump's campaign. Math doesn't work"

This shows how utterly clueless the establishment and MSM is and it also explains why nothing has changed in 30 years. Those in charge really do not care about the interests of Main Street.

I would take it a step further and say that the punditry is dangerous and their callousness has gotten tens of thousands of people killed and financially ruined. And that could be a very low ball figure.

This article also shows what kind of executive Trump is. He knows how to pick superior people like Manafort who had deadly accuracy the kind of accuracy that killed off the final two campaigns.

Turns out Trump didn’t need Manafort after all. It never got down to the delegates.

He will still need him for all the convention shenanigans

Trump has 1,053 now and needs 1,237 with 514 delegates remaining. That’s 184/514 to win, with no one else running.

Manafort played a much bigger than people think. He was 100% accurate in his forecast.

I think Trump brought in Manafort to prepare for the case of Trump not getting to 1237, in which case the delegate selection process would have been crucial.

But Trump’s impressive primary victories since then will have put Trump over the top, without Manafort.

In fact, Manafort hurt Trump a little with the comments to the GOP meeting about Trump changing his positions.

Not to say that Manafort wouldn’t have been a big help if it had come down to a brokered convention. But Trump ended up winning this on his own.

And Manafort is a smart cookie who can help down the road in other ways.

How could you forget about Kasich?

I assume he is still running. I have not seen any reports he has dropped out, even though he has no hope of winning the nomination.

All I know is still don’t trust the GOPe. They had better get to the convention with well over 1237 pledged delegates or the GOPe may still try to supplant Trump with an insider.

And I don’t mean Cruz.
