TEARJERKER ALERT! Such loyalty, I'm sure our GSDs would do the same for our kids.

Another reason why we need to severely restrict the reckless lawyer politician concocted chain immigration policies and immediately enact across the board decades long immigration moratoriums.

My late GSD jumped a snake that had just started slithering across the road when we went on a walk one day. He didn’t get bitten and we didn’t stick around to see what kind it was!! I miss that dog!! GREATEST DOG EVER!!!

I had a shepherd growing up. One night, a no-good neighbor kid tried to pour paint in our pool, to ruin the liner. My mom had caught him peeping in windows, and turned him in to the cops. Anyway, the kid had to climb a 6 foot cedar fence to do it. Do you think that shepherd started barking when the kid approached the fence? Nope, he sat down and waited until the kid was halfway over the fence, paint can in hand and then- CLOMP! He bit the kid in the hand, which forced him to drop the already open paint can and skedaddle back over the fence. Only then did he start to bark his head off. The cops followed the blood trail back to the kids house and arrested him in for the second time in a week. I still laugh about the mental image of my dog waiting by the fence quietly while thinking to himself “just a little closer, dumbass!”. God, do i miss him.

The summer before I started high school, one of my dogs was bitten by a rattlesnake. On his muzzle, the venom went straight to his brain. He died in my lap on the way to the emergency vet. He was a good boy, larger than life, a Dachshund. He had no fear and loved his people. Strangers, not so much.

We had an Irish Setter when I was a kid and one summer morning she would not let any kid near the ditch across the road from our house and our neighbors. It being summer and in the 1970’s neighborhood kids were out and about playing daylight to dark. But this hound was adamant about not letting us kids in a certain area, she would run interference and get in our way.

Finally several kids were in the driveway across from this particular spot playing basketball and I watched this dog maneuver around the ditch and finally she pounced and grabbed a four foot copperhead right behind the head in the neck, drag it out of the ditch and rip its head off after she carried it away from the kids.

When I was a youngster, growing up in the Boonies of Alaska, our nearest neighbor lived a quarter mile away, up a single lane dirt road.

They had two daughters. One day the Dad was at work and the girls were playing outside. Suddenly, there was a terrible commotion . It seems that a Black bear had got between the girls and the house. Their little bog, a Cocker Spaniel named "Snooper" lit into that bear for all he was worth. Of course he lost, but he gave the Mother time to get the girls inside.

When Dad got home Snooper was still alive, so they took him to the only vet available at the time. Snooper had over 200 breaks in his bones, besides being chewed up. Doc Beckley managed to save him and he lived several more years.

There is no explanation for the king of loyalty expressed by dogs. All they ask is a little love in return.
