Arguably (not a position I take personally, but ... arguably) Japan's sneak attack on Pearl Harbor was a pretty typical opening of hostilities between two countries between which tensions had been running high for some years. They gained the element of tactical surprise while we were sleeping, and should not have been.

It would be more devastating to ask 0bama if he ever talks about Japan's depredations in Manchuria, or if the Japanese have "morally evolved" since Bataan.

If the the Japanese told obama that the Pearl Harbor attack was faked by the British he’d eat it right up.

This is an excellent point. But I have to point out that the highly self-centered, introspective and self-deprecating American education system does not teach the younger generations much about the Japanese during WWII. It wasn’t until I was much older and came to know some older Chinese that I started to hear the truth of the Japanese invasion of China; as horrific as the Germans in Europe.

Eventually they’ll teach in school that the Japanese were only trying to kick the Western Colonialists out of Asia.

I’m glad you decided Pearl Harbor was no big deal. An attack on our country. What were you smoking?

FYI at the same time Japan launched massive attacks around the Pacific against many countries, plunging the world into an even bigger global conflict. Screw Japan in WWII THIS is our country.

Yes Manchuria was horrible but this is the United States and what Trump said was appropriate.

We should not have been sleeping; they should not have done a sneak attack. They attacked us at Pearl Harbor and we fought them all the way back to Japan and forced them to unconditional surrender. Just as we should have done. No apology.

The average person walking down the street in most parts of Japan does not connect Dec. 7th to Pearl Harbor.

It can be useful to occasionally take another look at how the democrat who was the president on that Pearl Harbor day spoke of that despicable attack, and how important he viewed that one dark day in history.   (Here's a link to a youtube clip of his speech the following day.)

0bama probably feels that America deserved it for thinking that Japanese all had buck teeth and wore glasses, and called them Japs.

Holy Cow! Someone who actually knows history??? Very good call.

Say what you want but the Japanese attacked a military base. They could have attacked civilians. They made a military move against the US and punched us in the nose. Hard.
We retaliated by bombing schools and hospitals. Realize that they did not have zoning laws against having industrial platforms butted up next to schools and hospitals. We bombed their military industrial facilities and there were casualties.

But, but, Japan attacked Hawaii in self defense, otherwise they wouldn't have been able to invade so much of the Pacific and Asia. If it wasn't for the United States building all those weapons of war, Pearl Harbor would never have happened. </apologist mode>

Many of our educators spend a great amount of time blaming the United States for all ills. When they tried to pull that same stunt in my daughter's high school, I demanded equal time in that class and presented that horrible Sunday in December for all students to fully understand. Needless to say, I was less than the most favorite parent at her school among staff. Every time they tried to pull something, I shoved back, and most thankfully, inspired many other parents to do the exact same thing.
