Let people do what they want with their own bodies and property

"The experience of having everybody around me on campus say the left is the way to go and then...seeing communism collapse made me think maybe the libertarians have a better handle on how these things work," says Todd Seavey, author of the new book Libertarianism for Beginners. "While the Soviet Union existed, the Marxists on campus were rooting for the Soviet Union."

A New York-baseed comic-book writer, one-time producer for TV's own John Stossel, and a contributor to Splice Today, Seavey found his way toward libertarianism while attending Brown University in the late 1980s.

His new graphic book, Libertarianism for Beginners, argues that the core message of libertarians is to "keep the government small and let people do what they want with their own bodies and property."

So public nudity and sex on the sidewalk are a-okay with ol’ John?

...says all libertarians, failing to understand that property rights are gifts from God, that He can and will and has taken away from peoples that reject His rules.

Well, they want to bugger each other all day long - but I’m supposed to pay for their AIDS.

They want to smoke pot - but I’m supposed to support them while they sit around on the dole because they’re too stoned to go to work.

Some “freedom”. Sounds like I’m the slave, here.

But the nanny state will complain that what you do might affect the snowflakes’ feelings.

So can I build a meth lab and have junkies passed out on the sidewalk next to your house? Why not? We are not hurting anyone...

Any be sure to pay extra taxes to take care of the health consequences of our actions. It is only fair.

Part of a long list of "victimless crimes" including drug use, alcohol use and prostitution.

While I can agree that they are victimless crimes in their pure state what we invariably see is the social pollution that surrounds them.

Public? I don't think that people doing what they want with their own bodies and property necessarily implies rubbing peoples' noses in it in public.

In the privacy of their home however, not infringing on anyone else's rights? Yes, they should be left alone, just like you should...

” let people do what they want with their own bodies and property.”

I bet if I shoot him with my gun, he will change his mind about this.

Freedom comes with an equal amount of civil behavior and responsibility....

Something most libtardarians just fail to grasp completely.

Public? I don't think that people doing what they want with their own bodies and property necessarily implies rubbing peoples' noses in it in public.

That's easily remedied by the second cardinal rule of liberaltarianism: "If you don't want to look at it, look away."

1st off. You will never pay for me to do anything.

I will continue to use cannabis AND be productive.

Remember, more freedom is always better. Peace :)

So he’s cool with it if his next-door neighbor starts turning tricks and turns her house into a brothel?

It always seems like Libertarianism is the political philosophy everyone knows, yet barely understands.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. / For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

— Ephesians 5:11-12

Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

— John Adams
Seems to me that arousing God’s wrath with one’s private (mis)behavior is infringing on the rights of others.

There are massive social costs associated with your insistence on using cannabis.
