Greenpeace slapped with RICO lawsuit

Karma Alert

I have been following the progressive legal exploits in using racketeering statutes against Big Oil, making the analogy that gasoline producers hid climate data they collected the same way tobacco companies repressed carcinogenicity data.

Of course, the eco-activists extraordinaire of Greenpeace were major cheerleaders:

Greenpeace media officer Cassady Sharp called upon the Justice Department to undertake a “broad” investigation to “look into the role of [ExxonMobil and] other fossil fuel companies, trade associations, and think tanks in sowing doubt about the risks of climate change.”

Greenpeace was not the first to call for RICO investigations into those who oppose costly climate change policies. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) made a similar call last year (prompting criticism from home-state press), as have others. Greenpeace may soon have second-thoughts about its embrace of RICO, however.

It looks as if Greenpeace is going to be taking a big sip from the Karma cup! A forest products company just slapped the organization with a RICO lawsuit of its own.

Resolute Forest Products Inc filed a racketeering lawsuit against Greenpeace and some of its associates for its campaign criticizing the company’s forestry practices.

It’s about time these thugs got a kick in the butt. I am waiting and hoping for some genius to 3-D print washing machines, dishwashers, and full flush toilets that work and sell them online. He or she would become a gazillionaire.

And both of them end up dragging down the 1st Amendment.

I understand the temptation, but methinks this is going to be met with a plethora of special pleading, rather than with an admission that they were just plain wrong. After all people have this funny way of expecting the messengers of God and of Satan to not be the same.

The lawsuit isn't about the 1st Amendment, it's about defamatory and false accusations by Greenpeace.

In other word, Greenpeace LIED about the plaintiff to further their anti-humanity agenda.

I hope they are awarded millions.

The barrier is steep to win such a thing, because the freedom of opinion is prized in America’s founding vision. A mushy headed people is not an excuse here.

The real cure is not to sue in court, but before the public. Who makes the better case?

Science can see so many details today, that it’s easy to craft an expurgated vision consisting of just some of them. This goes on today with this health fad and that nature craze etc. Nobody goes around suing them.

They are suing before the public; they’re demanding a jury trial, it should get lots of publicity.

But again do we think OJ was a good example of suing before the public?

It glorifies legal gamesmanship, not facts.

“In 1957 the United States government began to auction the mineral rights to vast offshore areas in and around the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. With a new sense of direction, George H.W. Bush and company formed Zapata Offshore.

Basically this was a drilling for hire business, and with the Seven Sisters oil cartel hungrily searching to offshore oil, there was little chance of failure. The Seven Sisters was a term of the Italian state oil company Eni, to describe the seven oil companies which formed the “Consortium for Iran’ cartel. The Seven Sisters dominated the global petroleum industry from the mid 1040s until the 1070s. The group consisted of Anglo-Persian Oil Company (now BP), Gulf oil, Standard Oil of California (SoCal), Texaco (now Chevron), Royal Dutch Shell, Standard Oil of New Jersey (now Esso/Exxon) and Standard Oil Company of New York (Socony/Exxon/Mobile).” Jeb! and the Bush Crime Family, pages 131-132

I would clarify, meaning his criminal trial. I hope in pickiness you do not miss the main point.

The First Amendment was made for debate. If people won’t debate that is their own fault.

Apples and oranges.

OJ's alleged crime affected only a few unfortunate families.

OTOH, Greenpeace's lies and obfuscations affect each and every American in the pocketbook from the bogus global warming/energy legislation it sponsors.

Hang 'em high!

Not to worry, Greenpeace will get this put in front of Judge Gozolo Curiel, problem solved. He’s a member of “The Klan With A Tan,” and will undoubtedly leak anything that will help Greenpeace!

When is the Bolshecratic Party going to receive RICO complaint?

The Pres__ent is pardoning criminals, the former SOS was posting secrets on an unsecured server, and the current SOS in and idiot and fraud.

Bush and everyone else. There are thousands of these companies in Texas and Louisiana. Many of them have folded to be replaced by others. The author knows nothing about the oil business.

Drilling for oil is never a sure thing. Only one out of every 4 to 6 wells is actually profitable. This clown is ignorant of the business.

A very great deal of it IS gamesmanship. It has been that way for a long, long time - it's just more obvious now.

Either we step up our game, or they win.
