The Orlando gunman who killed at least 50 and wounded many more, claimed to be loyal to a number of loyalist groups who are on opposing sides in the battlefield including Hezbollah and ISIS, US newspaper the Los Angeles Times reported.
Omar Mateen called 911 to say he was attacking the LGBT nightclub Pulse in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, swearing allegiance with ISIS.
The FBI's Director James Comey told the newspaper that since 2013 Mateen is known to have made a series elaborate claims linking his relatives to the Sunni terror network Al-Qaeda, while also claiming to have been a member of Hezbollah - the Iran-backed Shiite militia that operates in Lebanon. Both groups are known to oppose ISIS.
Comey said the contradictory comments and claims led to confusion surrounding his inspiration for Sunday’s devastating attack the newspaper report added.
In 2014, Comey added that the FBI again ‘briefly’ investigated Mateen amid allegations that he had watched videos by Al Qaeda propagandist Anwar Awlaki. The killer also attended the same mosque as an American who became a suicide bomber for Al Nusra Front in Syria which is also opposed to ISIS.
“During the calls [to 911] he said he was doing this for the leader of ISIL, who he named and pledged loyalty to,” Comey told a press conference on Monday using a different acronym for ISIS.
“But he also appeared to claim solidarity with the perpetrators of the Boston Marathon bombing and solidarity with a Florida man who died as a suicide bomber in Syria for al-Nusra Front, a group in conflict with the so-called Islamic State.”
He added: “The bombers at the Boston Marathon and the suicide bomber from Florida were not inspired by ISIL, which adds a little bit to the confusion about his motives.”
He explained that in 2013 “he was working as a contract security guard at a local courthouse and he made statements that were inflammatory and contradictory that concerned his coworkers about terrorism.
“First, he claimed family connections to Al Qaida. He also said that he was a member of Hezbollah, which is a Shia terrorist organization that is a bitter enemy of the so-called Islamic state, ISIL.”
He was loyal to Islam. He did not care about petty intra-Islamic squabbles. What mattered to him was that the infidels needed killin’.
Then one who think that after 2 FBI investigations in 2013 and 2014, this fact would have been discovered.
As Hillary would say, “what difference does it make?”
Omar Mateen was an Islamic terrorist, period.
He killed in the name of Islam.

The Jordanian palestinian terrorist Zarqawi had ties to both alQaeda [Sunni] and Hezbollah.[Shia]
Zarqawi was the first head of ISIS before Baghdaddi took over as figurehead. He was known for having posession of the most lucrative smuggling route from Pakistan through Iran and Iraq to Syria.

This is the Times again giving aid and comfort to terrorists. They are trying to cast doubts on the gunman’s own statements. By week’s end they will probably paint this registered DEMOCRAT terrorist as a republican, saying he must have registered in error. I hate the press.

Comey’s an idiot if he thinks there is confusion here. What part of the mideastern “enemy of my enemy is my friend” culture does he not understand?
They keep proving it time and time again, especially since 2009. Actually I think the American people had the wool pulled over their eyes sometime beginning in 2008 a certain junior senator thre his hat in the ring which is unheard. It has orchestrated events written all over it.
How lame of Comey to try to excuse yet another Feckless Bureau of Investigation failure with this explanation. Just because the Obama administration says the various branches of militant Islam are rivals doesn’t mean they don’t all have the same goal, which is to destroy the West and claim its territories for Islam.
Listening to his presser today made me realize what a dolt he is.
Our country is being run by people who think only of themselves and their pensions.
I guess they’re still having problems tying him to the NRA and the TEA Party. Oh well, it gives them something to do.
Comedy is sounding incompetent...perhaps he is knuckling under to pressure from his Democrat/Muslim boss. Trump needs to fire him in Januaary, either for incompetence or for cowardice In dealing with Obama/Jarrett/Lynch.
