Conservative critics of President Barack Obama’s nominee to head the Library of Congress were blindsided Wednesday when a key Republican engineered her lopsided confirmation by the Senate despite concerns she is, in the words of one opponent, “an unqualified, far-left progressive.”
The Senate voted 74-18 to confirm Carla D. Hayden, who leads Baltimore’s public library system, as the 14th librarian of Congress.
Sen. Roy Blunt, R-Mo., rushed Hayden’s nomination to the floor even as Blunt’s office declined to answer The Daily Signal’s inquiries Wednesday morning about the status of the nomination.

All 18 senators who voted no on Hayden are Republicans, as are seven of the eight senators who did not vote.

It’s a library for gods sake. Must everyone clutch pearls over everything? Perhaps worried about raising late fees? This is zero concern for me. Republicans were smart to confirm. It’s like the least important role in government.
Librarians are expert in classification. Let’s rate them by their librarian skills.
They will now brag about how they are true conservatives.

I think you need to do bit of research on what the job Head of Library of Congress entails.
Much larger and more influential than you may think.
Also a place where someone wanting to create mischief can do much damage under the radar screen.

They give in on everything. They pretend to be conservatives and brag about how conservative they are.
And then they support every thing the democrats want to do.
This is just one example of the weak, cowardly Republicans in Washington. This is not the most important position in the government. But the Republicans give in on everything. This is just one more example of the Republicans supporting the democrats.
These days the library is a free place to babysit your kids after school. Technology is making them otherwise obsolete.
Small potatoes.
In a state-run media article, a key word or two, included or oddly absent, is what points to the real story. The rest is camouflage.
The real story is an answer to the question, "Since this is a Democratic appointment, what kind of corruption is being evinced here--installing a visionary saboteur with vast contacts and credentials, or rewarding a time-server?" In this case, the answer appears to be "time-server."
Thanks for pointing out the significance of this position to the appeasers. A few frogs in the pot have long passed the boiling stage :(
