We Have a ‘War on Cops’ because of the War on the Family
American Thinker ^ | July 16, 2016 | Trevor Thomas

Just so we’re clear, here’s the left’s narrative on the police in America: there’s widespread and institutionalized racism inside America’s law enforcement agencies, and black Americans are especially targeted. This racism has led to the deaths of a disproportionate number of innocent black Americans. In order to stop this heinous activity, we need more gun control legislation, more wealth redistribution, more job and education programs, and thus Americans need to elect more Democrats.

Heather MacDonald (more than once), Larry Elder (more than once), and a host of others have provided mountains of evidence that prove beyond any reasonable doubt that there is no widespread special targeting of blacks by U.S. law enforcement. In addition to the crime statistics, consider: of the 50 largest cities in the U.S., 30 percent have a black police chief. Of the 50 largest sheriff’s departments in the U.S., 12 percent were led by black Americans. (Remember, blacks are about 13 percent of the U.S. population, and sheriffs are usually elected.)

Barack Obama, the U.S. president and commander-in-chief of the U.S. military -- the largest, most powerful military in the world -- is a black man. The U.S. attorney general -- the chief law enforcement officer and chief lawyer of the U.S. government -- Loretta Lynch, is a black woman. The previous U.S. attorney general, Eric Holder, is a black man. No doubt there are racists within U.S. law enforcement -- as there are in almost any agency, institution, or organization in America -- however, there is no way a nation achieves the racial diversity detailed above if widespread, institutionalized racism exists.

Watch this family, if you can call them that. A seven year old bites a cop. I would never have dreamt of that in 1969.

I will ask again: When and why did we stop going after dead-beat fathers?

There have always been dead beat dads. Yes, that is problematic but the demise of the family reaches much deeper. All those kids who lost fathers in combat or have fathers frequently overseas are not necessarily in trouble. Having an abusive dad can be very problematic too.

Bottom line, I do not think it is the government’s job to regulate the family. We want government out of our lives, yet we continually invite them in.

Without sound in this video, I can really say nothing. Why was the police there? I do assume they were called by the management.

As a Constitutional advocate, you make a point that's hard to argue.

However, there have been State laws about alimony and child-support as long as I remember (I'm 66). We now ignore those laws and let the sperm donors just walk away and society has to deal with the results.

Don't know any employed "sperm donors," eh?

Don’t get me wrong; I am not a dead beat dad fan. We are raising a grandchild that is better off with minimal contact with the parent, so dad, or even sometimes mom a child is better off without. I am simply saying be careful.

On a similar chord; people, especially on this site, are quick to call for the authoritarian involvement in so called animal abuse cases. This is another be careful area. In my opinion, animals should remain property. Be darn careful with legal being a care giver or having someone else determine what care should be.

I do. However, the enormous percentage of dead beat fathers in the inner cities are disproportionate to the population. Are you purposefully being obtuse? You don't see the cause and effect of such a small percentage of America's populace taking such a large part of our tax dollars? Ever hear of Welfare or Food Stamps? I'm done.

To make my position clear: I'm somewhat okay with local and state laws as long as they are Constitutional...you can always move. My problem is with the Fedgov. There is no escape. Also, don't think I've ever seen anyone on this forum calling for Fedgov involvement regarding animal abuse.

That's rich! You categorically state the laws aren't being enforced, knowing full well they are enforced with teutonic efficiency...when the father is gainfully employed. And you have the gall to question MY candor?

You are indeed, "done."

I think we are of like mind on this. Somewhat ok too. However, it seems that whenever yo let the gov in, they come busting through, even on a local level. Can you imagine what the founders would have to say about a president and a congress enacting laws on bathrooms? From the ADA to the president on transgenders in bathrooms, I think it is safe to say telling people how or where to poop is outside federal authority.

Are you an attorney? On another thread:

The homeowner had his home searched and property confiscated. I realize the urgency of the search, but suppose the item had been real; should what was discovered by another agency be evidence? I know for certain that the police may not do through an agent what they may not do on their own. Is there some exception with fire. This home wasn’t even part of the fire.

Kaslin: Here's one you can post that conservatives will enjoy... It's "Black Lives Matter" protests falling flat on their faces.. One group was ONLY whites - the paid shill type... I'm guess blacks didn't show up because the whole Black Lives Matter ‘movement’ is white owned, white controlled and an embarrassment to the black community.

My two Democratic neighbors spend about five times more to live each year than I do.

They live somewhat better than I do.

If incomes were equalized, I’d be living much better they would.

Just anectdotal but the successful black men I have known had one common thread. They almost always had father/grandfather at home who would ‘whoop their as $’ if they got out of line. Respect for authority begins at the micro level.
