This might be true but Trump is “bad” for invading foreign criminal freeloaders and refugihadis. Clintoon is “bad” for the American people so I guess you have to decide which group of people you care most about.

Let’s assume that Trump is as crooked as Hillary.

With the press and the government and all the 3 letter agencies hating him like they do he won’t be able to get away with .000001% of the stuff that the Billaries get away with.

That alone makes him a million times more desirable guarding the national assets and the American people.

Stopped reading at the end of paragraph three. This guy is an idiot... Emphasis added. What is strangely familiar is just how much of Catholicism monitors the haves and have nots... Never mind the means and methods of how any or all have or have not.

Neither candidate is better than the other? Who is he fooling? Trump for limits on abortion, religious freedom, and re-vamped health care for all, and freedom from government control and subsidiarity. Hillary against or weaker on all? He is wrong.

As a Catholic, I just don’t understand why someone with such a high position in the church, and all his influence, just fails to see the corruption from the Clintons and the democrat party. This is very disappointing.

Pushing a moral equivalency between them is calumnious to Trump.
To place her demonstrable corruption throughout her adult life
side by side with a businessman who exhibits nothing comparable
is unChristian and untrue. Is the good archbishop an elitist like
Will & Weigel?

It sounds like Charlie Chaput considers abortion to be a minor issue, highlighting the old adage that the road to hell is paved with the skulls of bishops.

“Read it as thoughts from a brother in the faith, not as teachings from an archbishop.”

No problem.

". . . NEITHER IS CLEARLY BETTER THAN THE OTHER. [Emphasis added.] "

Now there's a bit of bearing false witness if I ever saw it. Well, it could be gross ignorance but if that's the case, this guy has no business being a bishop (but in JMHo, that's true of about 2/3 of US Bishops for one reason or another)

problematic – that NEITHER IS CLEARLY BETTER THAN THE OTHER.

I stopped reading at this point. The author is obviously an idiot. I don't waste my time reading the opinions of leftists and other morons.

As a faithful, practicing Catholic this is maddening beyond words. It’s an outrage. Hillary Clinton supports and promotes almost everything that is antithetical to the Christian faith and culture, including consummate greed, infanticide, gay marriage, transgenderism, etc.
Trump? He wants to enforce laws on the books to protect Americans and use American law to protect the American people from obvious threats from peoples hostile to Western Christian society.
To me, one side is demonic while the other side is simpatico with Christian culture.

Has Chaput gone lefty? I thought he would at a minimum support the more pro-life candidate.

I tried to leave a comment but the website wouldn’t let me. Here’s what I attempted to post:

So disappointed to hear you say both candidates are equally flawed. Hillary is a corrupt liar who has been in politics for over 40 years. She’s part of the elite cabal that wants complete dominion over all of us. Worst of all, she’s rabidly pro-choice, which is antithetical to Church teaching. Trump, on the other hand, is pro-life. Since you claim in your essay that respect for life is the #1 issue Catholics should consider, the choice is clear. Trump 2016.

There is something to having the clergy free to speak on politics. I am free to criticize their social and economic policies.

Both major candidates are – what’s the right word? so problematic – that NEITHER IS CLEARLY BETTER THAN THE OTHER. [Emphasis added.]

Only ONE candidate is problematic, and that is Hillary Clinton. It is a no brainer!

Everything Hillary has ever touched has failed, been engulfed in scandal, resulted in massive investigations, litigation, financial ruin, prison or death. The final stage of any Hillary enterprise is a grand announcement that Hillary did not technically break the law. Or no one can prove she did. Or, even if she did, no one ever gets prosecuted for it. What are her accomplishments?

Hillary is a leader in the culture of death and the dismantling of the family, increased taxes, open borders, more government regulation, same sex marriage, and chaos.

Trump is for economic prosperity via reduced taxes, replacing Obamacare, etc.

Trump will strengthen our military, secure our borders, protect the unborn, remove regulatory barriers and eliminate dependence on countries that do not like us.

Trump will reintroduce common sense in place of Political correctness.
