The amnesty wing of the GOP has traditionally offered a false choice between legalizing millions of illegal aliens or losing the Hispanic vote. Their argument was that to be competitive with the growing numbers of Hispanic voters, Republicans had to get on board with amnesty. The numbers for that argument never made any sense.

I think it’s well past time to get a more accurate count than the decades old 11 million number.

I have never bought the homogeneous hispanic community any more than the homogeneous black community.

the non existent black community political construct is being used as a model for hispanics. There is no correlation.

All Americans are harmed by the illegal flood.

More than half of hispanic citizens are just as in favor of enforcement and border security as any other citizen.

The GOP has been lying to keep the Cheap Labor Express running.

All Americans are harmed by mass legal immigration as well. We bring in two legal immigrants for every job created. It is insane.

Notice how 2 of you say immigrants (and Hispanics) are not homogeneous and endorse that part of the author’s article. But the other FReepers then make broad generalizations that lump everyone together as being the same.

Those who make broad generalizations “All Americans”, “All illegals”, etc are Trump’s worst liability and albatross.

I have a number of LEGAL Hispanic and Asian friends. None favor amnesty. They had to do it legally, why shouldn’t everyone?

My wife is from Mexico. Legally. She jumped through every hoop and over every hurdle, at no small cost money time or effort. She backs enforcement of our immigration laws 100%, and will probably be voting for Donald Trump sometime next month ( we are not waiting on lines on Election Day like we did on Primary Day).

Some of her friends and relatives feel the same way, and some of them do not. It is not a surprise in the least that Hispanics, a fairly large group of people, manifest many different points of view. I have never understood the idiocy of assuming that people who share a single irrelevant characteristic somehow think alike.

And many or most of their kids are U.S. citizens, by our own rules. That is a complication that has to be dealt with.
