Two Good Samaritans are being credited with saving a woman’s life after she was attacked by two suspected carjackers who hit her over the head after she left Walmart was putting her infant child into a car seat in the store parking lot in Shawnee, Kansas on Sunday.
A bystander, who rushed to the aid of the woman after hearing her screams, was shot multiple times by one of the suspects, according to police.
Another Good Samaritan saw what happened, got out of his car and shot one of the attackers dead.
A shopper who had just exited the store recorded the aftermath of the shootings and posted the video to Facebook.
Wendy Russell Macrorie said she was shopping for light bulbs and a tire for her son’s bicycle when people in the store began saying someone had been shot outside.
“So this is interesting. I am at Walmart, which I hate going to, and this is happening in front of my car,” Macrorie says in the video.

This is a factor in many state statutes regarding lethal force. If you’re old, handicapped in certain ways, a small woman, etc., it’s not assumed that you should have tried to run away or duke it out first.

The video is irritating narrative. Woman hates Walmart, can miss saying ‘I don’t really like shopping here’, embarrassed to be there, and blames what she sees on Walmart. Spends whole time trashing Walmart. They should ask her not to return.

Good result here. Improvements would be if the bystander hadn’t gotten shot up, and if the second perp were DRT.

Please excuse the digression prompted by mention of Walmart. People constantly trash Walmart but millions continue to shop there for the large selections and generally low prices. Walmart also provides jobs to people who can’t find any other jobs at the wages Walmart pays. The $15/hr fast food jobs, in the limited areas where they exist, will quickly be supplanted by automation.
How can we justify a shooting for simple undocumented car rental?
