Washington (AFP) - Facebook, Twitter and news organizations including Agence France-Presse have joined a coalition of media and technology groups seeking to filter out online misinformation and improve news quality on social networks.

First Draft News, which is backed by Google, announced Tuesday that some 20 news organizations will be part of its partner network to share information on best practices for journalism in the online age.

Jenni Sargent, managing director of First Draft, said the partner network will help advance the organization's goal of improving news online and on social networks.

What’s their definition of “improve”? It probably includes the word “is”.

I'm thinking this is a violation of the Sherman Anti-trust Act.

They would have the ability to determine who has access to "the presses", based on whatever they believe to be their best interests.

Directly analogous to the break-up of Ma Bell.

Given who’s not involved, this is just an admission that liberal biased news organizations have been colluding for years to slant the news. Ought to be a lawsuit in there somewhere.

And obama turns over the web in 17 days.

hmm.

It is theoretically possible to shut down Trump support on social media and have Tass, er, the MSM try to destroy him.

We dont need MSM. And they do such little damage because they’re dinosaurs.

Social media we need. I use it a lot to get messages from here to those sites.

And unless they block me I will keep doing that.

If they make it illegal, some hacker will find a way in and we’ll (me too) will post again.

And if prison (unlikely) is in the cards, so what.

What better reason to be arrested than fighting for your country

I’more worried about what they consider “online misinformation”. Who fact checks the fact checkers?

If we consider what the liberal Mediascum consider appropriate “news” and information, we can expect this effort to become a monstrosity of liberal censorship of competing viewpoints, a filtering out of inconvenient facts and events, etc.

Just imagine the Hillary or Obama campaign staffs determining what should be allowed in “First Draft News” ...... that is about what this project will amount to, extremely dangerous !!!

CBS and AP colluded in 2004 to LIE to voters about forged memos from Waco that GW Bush was AWOL in the military. This October Surprise was supposed to “fix” what the 2000 election eve release of his DWI record did not (he lost by 0.51% of the popular vote, 1 half of 1 percent, and his measurable drop far exceeded that in 2000).

I’ve got an IDEA.

If I JOIN freely a social network, let me pick (with checkmarks, opting in) 20 “news” sources I trust. And let me BLOCK everbody else who is a JOURNOLIST who conspires with other news agencies to run press conferences as a racket where the journalist all agree on the topics and tone together beforehand and even select the questioners. ALL of this was already exposed in past elections.

F&ckerberg can ZUCK off.

At this point Fascistbook has admitted that they no longer are a “common carrier” and that even “pay to play” sponsorship of content doesn’t get you seen by your audience (commercial fraud).

Bust this communist monopoly and kick him in the nuts 2 times.

The Journolist racket years ago showed they colluded on news.

The Abu Ghrab photos were collusion between the DNC and the media. The Waco National Guard forged documents were collusion between the DNC and the media. The faggots in 2006 (toe tapper and the sexter) were evidence of an October Surprise colluded by the DNC and media to “expose a culture of corruption that rises to the top ranks of the party”.

That’s my concern too. Who gets to determine what criteria are applied? Who decides what is misinformation? Where is the line between a dissenting opinion on a contentious issue and misinformation? How far can you spin something before it becomes misinformation? Does this mean no more hyperbole? No more using reductio ad absurdum as a form of argument?

I attempted to send a lot of images of 9/11/2001 on 9/11/2016 via my Microsoft Hotmail account to my distribution list. I was unsuccessful. Within the last 2 weeks Microsoft distributed a memo saying it was going to start censoring e-mails with terrorist and violent content.

microsoft.com/en-us/servicesagreement/upcoming.aspx
3. Code of Conduct.
•a. By agreeing to these Terms, you’re agreeing that, when using the Services, you will follow these rules:
◦iv. Don’t publicly display or use the Services to share inappropriate Content or material (involving, for example, nudity, bestiality, pornography, graphic violence, or criminal activity).
vii. Don’t engage in activity that is harmful to you, the Services, or others (e.g., transmitting viruses, stalking, posting terrorist content, communicating hate speech, or advocating violence against others).

POTUS #44 BHO has ordered the U.S. to relinquish control of the internet to an international group effective 9/30/2016. FreeRepublic has posted several links about FaceBook which has been censoring conservative news and conservative political postings. George Orwell was a little premature in his prediction regarding Big Brother back in 1949. 1984 finally arrived in 2016.

Saw an “arts” group” today promoting this piece of bullstalin. Watch how years are smooshed and a hysterical hockeystick (that doesn't exist) is shoved up the rump of those who'd “deny” their cartoons.
