I can carry an entire grocery shopping trip from my car into the house in one haul when its in plastic bags then hang them from my kitchen cabinet as daily cooking scrap bags.

And the DIL uses a purse she made with recycled plastic grocery bags. Something like this:

Paper bags have a couple of other good uses. They can be used to bake crab legs. And they can be used by persons of color for the famous 'paper bag test'.
