Bob Hope in the 1940 movie, "The Ghost Breakers," referred to democrats as zombies. Some things never change.
Ha! Thanks for the laugh!
:^)
Mary Carter (Paulette Goddard) inherits her family's ancestral home, located on a small island off Cuba, and, despite warnings and death threats, decides to take possession of the reputedly haunted castle. She is joined by radio broadcaster Larry Lawrence (Bob Hope) who, believing he has killed a mob gunsel, flees New York with his butler, Alex. Once on the island the threesome enter the eerie castle and, after viewing the ghost of one of Mary's ancestors and fighting off a menacing zombie, they find the key to the castle's treasure but are interrupted by an all-too-human foe.
Good one!
I’ve seen it before, but I love it every time.
LOL Great line!
Gotta wait for it, here it comes.... BAM! Brilliant!
“I am a member of no organized political party...I am a Democrat.” — Will Rogers
Which reminds me. TCM will be showing SCARED STIFF with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis this week. It is the same exact script, some, scene for scene, as Ghost Breakers but without the “democrats” comment.
I was once watching Ghost Breakers, and when done I turned the TV onto a different channel and realized I was now looking at the same movie but with different actors.
Thanks for the heads up.
I’ve never seen the Martin/Lewis movie so I’ll be tuning in.
Saw it last night. The Zombie talk scene is the same except Jerry Lewis says...”Sounds like husbands”.
