Trump continues to blast Central Park Five long after they were exonerated:..

...'They admitted they were guilty'
Donald Trump continues to hammer away at the Central Park Five even though they have long been exonerated for the rape of a jogger in 1989.

The Republican presidential candidate told CNN in a statement this week that "they admitted they were guilty. The police doing the original investigation say they were guilty. The fact that that case was settled with so much evidence against them is outrageous. And the woman, so badly injured, will never be the same."

The five teens spent several years in jail, but the charges were dropped in 2002 after convicted killer and rapist Matias Reyes confessed to the crime. Authorities were able to tie Reyes' DNA to the Central Park attack, but no DNA evidence had been found to connect the teens. The Central Park Five eventually agreed to a $41 million settlement.

"What more do we have to prove? I'm tired of proving our innocence! I don't care what this a--hole thinks," Raymond Santana of the Central Park Five tweeted to Trump on Friday.

Santana added in a second tweet that Trump "will never get the black & Latino" vote.

Ken Burns, Sarah Burns and David McMahon, co-directors of the documentary "The Central Park Five," said in a statement that Trump's comments "are part of his worn out pattern of denying facts and evidence to promote a perverse alternate reality in which people of color are seen as a threat to America."

Tweeted Ken Burns: "Apparently Mr. Trump is unfamiliar with the concept of wrongful conviction."

After the attack 27 years ago, Trump took out a full-page ad in local newspapers that called for the five teens to receive the death penalty.

I want to hate these muggers and murderers," he wrote. "They should be forced to suffer and, when they kill, they should be executed for their crimes."

"They must serve as examples so that others will think long and hard before committing a crime or an act of violence."

Trump did admit last year that the Central Park Five should not have been given the death penalty because the 28-year-old jogger did not die. However, he ripped Mayor de Blasio for the $41 million settlement.

"They should be very thankful I wasn't mayor because they wouldn’t have gotten a dime," Trump said.

Well, gang here it is, the newest "gocthya". IIRC, when these thugs were arrested they were initially joking about it, as if it were "no big thang", maybe their way of gaining "street cred wit da homies in da 'hood"? Given the demeanor of these "innocent children" Trump was hardly the only one who thought they were guilty as hell at the time. What will the LSM do for an encore? Oh, I know, when Trump was 9 yrs old he issued a little known press release saying Emmet Till got what he deserved. Wouldn't put it past these SOB's

Is this the “wilding” incident?

I think they beat her in the head with a brick and then they all raped her.

at the time I believed it was one of the worst crimes that anyone has heard of.

I believe it was Ann Coulter that gave a long legal explanation of how these guys got off but while they got their money and they got off they are guilty as hell.

this sounds pretty good but it’s all false.

they did it.

As we knew they would. These people are all following Hillary to this country’s extinction. We have to win in spite of these idiots, and fix their brainwashing later.

To this day the poor woman does not remember anything about the incident, she very nearly died and was in a coma for a long time.

I believe she was some type of Junior Trader. she worked in the finance industry and she was a jogger.

This crime happenedaround the time of the Bernhard Goetz Subway shooting of those tough guys who tried to mug a law abiding, polite electrical engineer.

Anyone who was living in New York City at that time was pissed off as all hell about crime and the seeming manner in which no one was doing anything about it.

Times Square was like a porn drug shooting area and you could graffiti anything.

Trump’s words exactly reflected the thoughts of the average common City dweller.

The exoneration seems to have been political rather than evidentiary. They were simply let go. There were more such crimes that need to be committed.

“The police doing the original investigation say they were guilty.”

That’s not reason to convict someone.

“”The Republican presidential candidate told CNN in a statement this week””

What on earth is he doing making a statement about this NOW? Is he not content to let things die down without stirring another pot? He’ll no doubt have his foot in his mouth again at the Sunday debate. If we grow tired of his antics, think of what his campaign workers and staff have to be going through. Does he need to be taken to the woodshed?

The victim of the Central Park attack was gang raped and her head was beaten in with a brick.

After the five were convicted, another person already in prison confessed and received no additional prison time. It is said he was paid to confess. The assailants who were already convicted were never proved innocent. Nor did they present evidence contradicting the evidence that had gotten them convicted.

The police stood by their work and said the other assailants were guilty.

A few corrupt Democrat politicians concluded that even thought the woman was clearly gang raped by several assailants they would only hold one person responsible. The one who was already in prison when he confessed.

Trump is right.

“The assailants who were already convicted were never proved innocent.”

The accused are not required to prove their innocence.

"That’s not reason to convict someone."

Read Coulter's article. I've put the link to it farther down in the thread.

"The exoneration seems to have been political rather than evidentiary."

Morganthau wouldn't let the cops interview Reyes after he confessed to the crime.

Perhaps she has some good points, but simply having a police officer say you are guilty is not reason to convict you of a crime.

FTA: "Liberals are opposed to rape in the abstract, but when it comes to actual rapists, they're all for them. "
It's been said a liberal is someone who loves humanity but hates people.
