I only drove it a few miles. The horse power is noticeable, but I thought it felt a little “heavy” in the front. It would out preform my 2011 that’s for sure.

I test drove a used 2013 and was disappointed as it did not seem peppier than my 08 Bullitt.
I test drove a 2016 GT and wondered where the 435 hp was until I put it into sport mode.
My Bullitt responded to steering input more lively than the 2016 and it took a few weeks to get used to the heavier car and bigger hood and larger tires but it can be pushed much harder than my Bullitt. And the performance package brakes are GREAT ... after you get used to the quick response.

The 1971-1976 GM station wagons were the largest station wagons ever built at 5400 lbs. This line included the Buick Estate, Olds Vista Cruiser, and the Chevy Caprice and Impala wagons and they all come in with a wheelbase of 121 inches and overall length of 222 inches. The largest wagons of the middle 60s were a little smaller than that.
Take and afternoon. Go out to the car with your manual, study up a bit. It will be fun. Put some music on and learn what the lights are on your display.
You should know how to use those things you paid for, and some of them come in very useful.

I know what the things do though. I’m very intuitive on electronic things generally. Haven’t read a manual since the 70s, but when something new comes along, I can generally figure it out in minutes. It’s fun.
Thanks for the explanation. I’m a woman - what do I know or care about wheelbase and overall length! I just know that when I was in the time of hauling kids and stuff, I needed a car big enough to haul everything. And the station wagon we had handled it just fine.
Plus you could at least see out the windows. I also like to drive with my window down and rest my arm on the ledge. Can’t do that comfortably with the new ones as the frame is too high. Can’t even begin to see out those tiny windows. We did have a Ford Expedition in the late 1990’s which I loved. Wish I still had it.
It’s like buying art: Why would someone pay thousands or millions of dollars for an original painting by Matisse/Dali/Pollock when you can pick up a paper copy at Wal-Mart for $2?

The IRS on the ‘03-’04 was an afterthought to mount on the that old platform’s chassis (it was still a Fox Body with cosmetic changes.
I have read the new one requires changing to stiffer bushings to counter wheel hop if you drag race with drag tires. The good news is that it did not break until 600 supercharged HP was applied.
Shock loading an axle by launching with a drag slick is about the most abusive thing you can do to a rear end. Straight axles in the 2005-2014 Mustang are pretty much good to go with drag tires being the only mod needed for competitive launches.
Ford upgraded that axle from a 28 to 31 spline when the 2005 came out because that was one of the mods the drag guys were doing anyway.
