I would love to see may-issue states like CA being required to honor permits from other states, including other state permits issues to their own residents. Many CA residents have permits issued by AZ and Utah for example. I don’t know if any of the various bills include a provision like that. If not, we’ll have the situation where visitors to a state like CA could legally carry while many residents could not. I’d be happy with that as a good first step though, if that’s all we could get at this time.

Legalizing Silencers... Already legal. Just pay the stupid tax.

There is more to it than that. One must undergo a federal background check which requires a passport photo and finger printing. One can wait anywhere from 6 months to year for the approval process to completed. (Your local State may have an approval process or prohibit NFA devices outright.)

WHen completed and approved, one must carry the "tax stamp" document while in possession of the device. One cannot relocate the device to a different State without approval/notification (I do not recall the exact process, since I've not tried to "travel" with the device.)

A pain and unnecessary expense just to save one's hearing.

At the same time, that tactic will not likely help in the "New Jersey scenario" illustrated by fellow FReeper MJreagan earlier in this thread.
Producing an out-of-state CCW card would not prevent legal troubles.

Having some sort of CCW credential from *any* state sure couldn't hurt and could only help. It is a very good point, Rio.
Residents of places like CA, IL, NJ, NY, CT, MA, and DC still have a ways to go before they can carry a firearm free of legal hassle.

Yeah. All my rifles are threaded and I have three caliber cans for them. A .22, .30 and a .48.

The big .48 one is for my 45/70 that I use to stomp hogs into the dirt with. It really gives me some good follow ups.

For sure. Like every time you travel with it out of State you have to get a form for travel.

This is missing a few key items: (1) recognition of 2nd amendment of all citizens regardless of jurisdiction (I should be able to go to California or New York without losing my 2nd amendment rights; national CCW goes a long welcome ways toward this), (2) removal of laws banning certain types of guns, magazines, etc., and (3) preemption of laws requiring background check to buy ammo.

Although I had a felony conviction many decades ago, my rights were reinstated immediately after 2 year probation and just two months ago I was "DENIED" a firearm purchase. I have made many purchases with delays (because of an extensive FBI and DIS file) but was always approved within the three day delay.

NOW I discover that Obumbler reassigned the entire NICS Appeals staff in Jan 2016, and so my attorney and my letters to FBI are apparently not being acted on since no one is there to staff the appeals process. The FBI/CJIS/NICS states on their website "The NICS Section’s Appeal Services Team is currently processing appeal cases received in June 2015

Seems the system has been rigged to stop any sale they can, not matter how legal and responsible a firearm owner I am. The deined NTN response they send you is just boilerplate and standard answer when calling is "We cannot discuss anything over the phone".

Legalizing Silencers

Making a hearing safety device criminal was one of the dumbest things ever done under the Administration of Franklin D. Roosevelt… and that’s saying a lot. The Hearing Protection Act is already written and has co-sponsors. It should be passed within the first 60 days of President Trump’s administration, which is a blessing to high-volume shooters such as myself who would like to better protect our hearing.

Excellent! Why should we have to pay $200 to be a polite shooter and save our hearing? Europe pretty much REQUIRES the use of suppressors (and that’s what they are, NOT silencers). Also, if they become legal without the $200 stamp, MANY more will be sold, driving competition to supply them, driving up quality, and driving down prices. No downside here.
