Additional matters:
* allow the selling of military surplus, the expended military brass, for recycling by civilians
* end federal agency stockpiling of guns and ammo
Department of Homeland Security was reasonable. Department of Education was not in need of guns, much less the USDA buying sub-machine guns.
* clear up laws where someone driving through an anti-gun state with their guns doesn’t end up in prison for doing so

It was this insanity that allowed Fort Hood massacres one and two to occur.

I suspect the military would have to have a policy of every one above E5 will carry on duty, as well as every officer.

Way off amigo.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

You see the words that I highlighted. This is where the FERAL Government hands over control to the States. Give it to any constitutional lawyer (which I am not but I did stay at a Holiday Inn) and they will tell you.

The "shall not be infringed" is where the FERAL Government and the State are screwing us. First, the State for NOT stopping the FERAL Government when they started up with the BATFE and such and then with all of the State's "infringements".

National reciprocity is very complicated and, if not done well, could harm CCW holders in most states.

On the very first day, Congress should pass DC reciprocity. That is, all state permits become valid in DC. That is clean, simple, clearly within Congress’s power (and no one else’s).

DC, and similar. Those states need to be brought

DC is not a state.

DC is governed by Congress:

Article I §8: "The Congress shall have the power...To exercise exclusive legislation in all cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten miles square) as may, by cession of particular states, and the acceptance of Congress, become the seat of the government of the United States..."

Congress can establish 50-state reciprocity with DC in 24 hours.

No one here voiced anything about the Ayotte mess in New Hampshire that the article briefly mentions

I beg your pardon!

As soon as Ayotte withdrew her endorsement and denounced Trump, I posted that I would not vote for her, and that I hoped she would lose by one vote, and that, if she did lose by one vote I promised to buy an ad in the Union Leader to claim the credit. I've written the same or similar posts at least ten times before Election Day.

Sentiment in FReeperdom has mostly been critical of me (because "muh Republican Senate"), but a few people agreed.

I am not sure that is so.

I am pretty sure it does.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

See that big bold "free State". This is where the framers is implying the 2nd amendment is for the protection of the State and has nothing to do with the FERAL Government.

Where everything went off the rails is when the States did not put their foot down when the FERAL Government started up the ATF and started collecting money and issuing stamps for certain weapons.

Not only that, the States started up with their own "infringements" I don’t know that I want to live in a society where everyone feels that they need to be armed but that is actually a different issue.

Hey, feeling like they should be no, but being able to be, a great big resounding YES.

Please note I am not a shooter.

And I am. I have been one since I was about 4 years old. Killed my first deer when I was 6 with my Gpa. Quit hunting deer with a rifle when I was 10 and picked up a bow. Now, since age 55 I have went back to a rifle because of shoulder problems but only shoot long range (200-1000 yards) and pistol. I have worked with local and State 4H and other youth organizations to promote gun safety and our 2nd Amendment rights. The youth is our future and need to know what is available to them.

I would like to see national reciprocity, but I do not believe Congress has the authority (except over DC) to pass it is a form we would find acceptable.

My home permit is NH. My surrounding states of ME and VT allow CCW to non-residents with no permit (Quick national CCW Advanced Placement quiz: What do VT, NH, and ME have in common?”)

I have a MA nonresident Class A high capacity CCW, which is not easy to get. I have VA and FL nonresident permits, so all in all I have about 38 states.

My problem is the blue wall of CT, NY NYC, NJ, and MD which block travel over I-95. It’s my view that liberating those states from tyranny is up to their residents, and that a bill to grant their own residents CCW would allow Congress a broad Federal police power I don’t want Congress to have.

I do want Congress to strengthen FOPA, though. Right now, NYC and NYS (which are separate jurisdictions with regard to firearms) do not recognize FOPA in the sense that you will be arrested and jailed, but you are allowed once you go to trial to introduce FOPA in your defense. This is outrageous.

Congress can and should mandate DC reciprocity immediately.

Take a chill pill.
I did not feel the need for an extra paragraph describing how Washington, D.C. is governed, yet still difficult to lawfully carry firearms.
I am an educated person who knows how to count up to 50. Sheesh.

The State referred to in the 2nd Amendment is the State known as the United States of America. Note the singular nature of the word, as opposed to the plural ‘States’ used in the 10 th Amendment.

Nice...Thank you Sir for sticking to your guns about Ayotte. If i didn’t pick up on your posting I apologize. I have been furious over Kelly Ayotte ever since she went full RINO and I even called her offices to point out WHY she lost after getting on the amnesty band wagon with that foolish “gang of eight “ crap. I am in total agreement with you in regards to “OUTGOING” senator Ayotte.
