Tariffs don’t keep jobs. We need to first get rid of the regulations and high taxes that are the cause of company migration

Trump knows this. He also knows Ford is listening. Art of the Deal.

`Tariffs don`t keep jobs`

Right. How could slapping a 35% tariff on goods coming back into the country possibly effect a company`s decision on whether to move or not` /s

Of course an even more effective way to keep jobs here is to lower taxes and regulations, which Trump is planning to do.
But to suggest that a 35% tariff on imports would have no effect on a company`s decision to move its jobs overseas is foolish.

agreed -

1) sound money
2) a competitive and simple tax rate
3) bare minimum regulations
4) equality under law

not much else is required for Americans to compete with anyone

Absolutely. But the threat of tariffs are very useful to prevent “dumping” of goods by China and other countries.
