a tariff. Bill Ford can build as many as he wants to in Mexico.
He just won’t sell many in the US.

Ford is moving Focus production to Mexico. Wayne Assembly, the plant in Michigan that makes it is being re-tooled for the new Ford Ranger.

To be clear, Lincoln has sold 20,000 MKCs so far this year versus 260,000 of the Ford Escape built on the same lines.
A couple years ago, Ford was planning to move MKC production to make room for more Escapes. Since then, demand for the Escape has flattened and more capacity for them is not needed. The Escape/MKC lines are actually getting an extra two weeks shutdown this fall because of too much inventory.
Trump still deserves credit for Ford running scared enough to make a public relations effort.
