Hollywood Latinos ‘Devastated’ and Even Bedridden as Trump Era Beckons

Yannina Diaz gave birth to her son soon after President Obama’s election, and thought the world had changed. But it changed for her again when Donald Trump was elected.

“Now I fear for my child and I fear for myself,” said Diaz, publicity director at the Jim Henson Company. “That he will have the same obstacles I did.”

Few in Hollywood were happy about Donald Trump’s victory. But for entertainment-industry Latinos like Diaz, it was especially painful to see Trump win ? especially after he said early in his campaign that many Mexicans who come to the United States bring crime and drugs, and are “rapists.”

Diaz said that when she recounted her fears to one of her non-Latino colleagues, “She broke down in tears. She knows her children don’t face the same obstacles.”

Reaching out to Hollywood Latinos for their stories, TheWrap heard of several at studios and agencies who were so disappointed after Trump’s win that they didn’t make it into work.

“I was in bed for almost two days after this election,” Hillary Clinton supporter actress Eva Longoria told “Extra” host Mario Lopez. She took to Instagram the day after the election to share that she had a “broken heart.”

Hollywood always makes deliberate efforts to insert their political views into films they produce. It is especially true when they make a sequel to a blockbuster action-thriller. Suddenly they change its main character to a woman or a guy who appears as if he just came out of urban ghetto. It is compounded by bringing in unapologetically biased screenwriters. They think it is cute and can get away with it, pushing the envelope forever. However, there is a limit which they would reach eventually. People would tune out and stop watching their movie. More blatant political bias would usually lead to increasingly mediocre content. Nobody likes mediocre movie with so much political crap. That is where Hollywood is heading, but they will be slow to get it. Even brainwashed snowflakes will eventually get tired of it. They went too far this time and could face backlash they have never encountered.

Trump won. Hillary lost. Now get over it. You are living in the wealthiest country in the world. You are employed. You are filthy rich now compared to your family in Mexico. And you are so sad that a guy won an election that are bedridden? Do you know how lame and pathetic that sounds?

But this is true. Many Mexicans who come here illegally do break the law. Drugs. Murder. Rape. We've all heard numerous examples of these things. Does Yannina have trouble hearing the truth?

Unless she is here illegally, breaking our nation's laws, then her fears are silly. She would be wise to keep silent about matters which are clearly over her head.

I CAN no longer even risk 5 dollars to rent a movie that was out recently in theaters because the chance of there being a gay character, even if there are 2 actors, is 100 percent!!!

I like to ask friends what percentage of the population they think is gay. After TV and Hollywood pushing homosexuality for the past 25 years many guess 10-20 percent. When I tell them it is actually 1.5% they are always amazed. It’s a fun way to point out how Hollywood distorts reality.
