Growing up, me & two of my brothers shared a room. I didn’t realize that we had a reason to complain...
She uses his last name which merely implies they are married.

I currently have five children in one bedroom: four bunk beds and a toddler bed. What’s the big deal: all they do in there is sleep or lie in bed reading.
First thing they should have asked for was a chastity belt.
Failing that some birth control might have been a good backup.
Failing that, a working TV set could have helped.
Failing that some surgery might have helped
Failing that a firing squad would have helped.
Exactly - there is no problem.
In fact it could be argued that kids who grow up having their own bedroom miss out on a great deal of “socialization training”.
If nothing else, they really appreciate it when they finally get their own apartment.
I’m irritated when articles like this generate a lot of comments to the effect that there’s something wrong with having a lot of children. No, the proximate problem is that they’ve chosen to mooch off the UK welfare system, but the bigger problem is that there IS a UK welfare system for them to mooch off.
To my knowledge, the Duggers didn’t receive any public financial assistance. I understood that the Dad had a job..a politician I think?? Unless you call a paycheck from a public job as public financial assistance.
I don’t know if they were paid for the tv show they did as a family. Not all people who participate in tv shows are paid. The kids most likely contributed toward the family income as they came of working age. We have no idea how much they may have received through voluntary contributions from their church, or what services they as a family may have performed as a result of those contributions.
I would think we are not in an age of sanity yet (cf your tag) where people are talking about shooting moochers. Isn’t there still such a thing as just saying no?
None. The adults had jobs. They also rented some land to a telecom company for a cell tower. They were paid for the tv program. Not only that, they lived debt-free, so they didn’t have a mortgage deduction. They paid local property taxes but didn’t use the public schools.
Nonetheless, some people here insisted that somehow, someway, the Duggars’ many children MUST HAVE been “taking my money.” It’s insane.

How about you don’t send crap out in the first place, then people won’t have to think about washing it off.
