The Nielsen estimates revealed that ESPN lost 555,000 subscribers during the last month.

In other words, ESPN essentially lost the city of Albuquerque, New Mexico. This, coming on the heels of last month, the worst month in ESPN history, where the network lost 621,000 subscribers.

In the last two months, ESPN has lost 1,176,000 subscribers, a subscriber loss nearly the size of the city of Dallas, Texas.

...explanation for the network’s cratering subscriber base. ESPN Ombudsman Jim Brady, admitted that the network lurched way too far to the left in recent years, alienating many viewers.

I don’t like mixing politics with my sports.

I especially don’t like talking heads coming into my living room and insulting me.

So....I don’t watch them.

In fact, I’m canceling my satellite altogether.

I would like to see an end to bundling on cable TV. That would probably mean the end to ESPN and a few others.

Surely it couldn’t have been what it was.

We stopped watching ESPN when they spent too much time on publicizing homosexuals and Leftist player protests. We haven’t missed it.

They need to keep their politics out of their coverage. Also most sports fans are more conservative, and yet they push their liberal views.

Hope the NFL takes a massive dive too.

NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION for Jim Brady and ESPN. Go to church on Sundays. ESPN has been your idol for too long.

When I watch sports, I want a break from life frankly. I want to watch athletes performing.
When these pundits and announcers start bloviating about crap outside of the game, I change the channel.
Stick to the game turds. I never watch the shows outside of the games either for that leftward bent discussed in the article.

Yup...tired of politics with sports. Tired of seeing coverage of Obama picking his NCAA bracket. This all started when they booted Rush off of the pre-game show.

Soon we will have VR sports broadcast. Cameras in helmets. No announcers except what is over PA at game.
Even now I turn off volume, as I can see game better than in HD
Than announcers.

Good!

This is a start and I hope the downward spiral continues.

Sports fans and participants are NOT generally libtards.

“No announcers except what is over PA at game.”

Not ESPN related but to see Joe Buck disappear would be absolute heaven for me-—and he can take his book of endless stats with him.

Good riddance to ESPN.

I will be very happy when the time comes when you can choose
and pay for only the channels you want to watch. And that time
will come.

There's a real chance ESPN President John Skipper may end up resigning over this debacle.

I wouldn't be surprised if former ESPN President George Bodenheimer is asked to return for a short stint to clean up the mess at ESPN and return it to its former glory. For one thing, because ESPN does sports programming for ABC, Bodenheimer will put the College Football Playoff and Championship games back on over-air ABC, and may negotiate a deal to bring Monday Night Football back to ABC with more attractive matchups.

Is Nielsen confusing viewers with subscribers?

the cable providers are the ESPN subscribers. Individuals can’t subscribe to ESPN

Ya I remember curt schilling violated political correctness.

Its crazy that these liberals talk about how they are open and tolerant and believe in expressing all viewpoints.

But when confronted with contrasting points of view, liberals are totalitarian,,and move to shut down the freedom of speech they say they support.
