Amazon introduces next major job killer to face Americans

Amazon on Monday unveiled the latest plan to automate American workers out of existence — a futuristic grocery store without any cashiers.

High-tech sensors and artificial intelligence are allowing shoppers at the Seattle food market to swipe an app when they enter, then roam the aisles and grab staples like bread and milk, artisanal cheeses and chocolates and ready-made meals.

Customers can watch as the items they pluck off the shelves get added to a virtual cart on the app — and subtracted if they put them back — with receipts emailed to them once they leave, according to the company.

The 1,800-square-foot Amazon Go store is currently open only to employees of the online retail giant, but the company plans to start letting the public in next year.

Amazon will also test out “large, multifunction stores with curbside pickup capability” and “drive-through prototype locations,” sources told the Wall Street Journal (paywall).

The company wants to open more than 2,000 brick-and-mortar grocery stores, compared with about 2,800 operated by The Kroger Co., now the nation’s largest full-service grocery retailer.

Waiting for this to be put in all central minority urban centers “food deserts” and then enjoy watching the outcome.

Amazon is a horizontally integrated tax avoidance megalopoly.

So what happens to the folks who do not put the item back in the original spot should they choose not to buy the item?

Everyone sees items misplaced all over the store from customers changing their minds or realize they don’t have the cash...

Does Amazon accept EBT? :}

I believe Trump considers Amazon a target for an anti trust action.

Wow. Cool. How it handle people who tear open the package, eat a handful of whatever is inside, and then put it back on the shelf?

They could offer the surveillance camera feed on Pay-per-View to help offset their shoplifting and property damage losses.

Why? So I have to go back to where I found it and put it back?

If I am going shopping I want to shop. Not be trailed around, micromanaged and observed. If I wanted easier shopping, I would shop off of a computer.

I have pretty much ended my shopping at Amazon.

___________

It might work. The amount could be deducted from their EBT cards. The system won’t allow them to steal.

With the internet of things, grocery shopping should be done as follows:
1. Refrigerator notices the milk carton is telling it that it only has 1/4 left (user adjustable threshold) and the hamburger is down to one half pound.
2. Refrigerator sends message, via your account on the internet, to local amazon food store (which is a non-descript box on a cheap piece of real estate and two parking spaces for the guys that ensure it keeps functioning).
3. Robotics within the facility load the items onto a self driving delivery vehicle along with other orders within your vicinity.
4. Vehicle shows up at your home and pulls up to a robotic access door/corridor on the side of the house and places the items on a conveyor belt inside the open door.
5. Items are placed within the refridgerator via the robotics in this corridor.
6. You see the bill on your credit card. You haven’t purchased food directly yourself for years, except for gas-burgers.

Or even more dispirited and demoralized.

Here's how this works:

irremediable unemployment --> alcohol --> drugs --> suicide

It does save Social Security the costs of maintaining the elderly.

What a great way to foil flash mob theft...

all the thugs enter, gather what they want, run away, and their EBT cards get billed!
